    Question Component Protection Removal Help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'd like to preface this by saying that I've been scouring Google and these forums for days, and either my search terms are terrible, or there's no information for exactly what I'm looking for.

So, I have a 2010 A4 Premium Plus with the MMI3G. I decided to undertake going to 3G+ so I bought the headunit and center buttons off eBay. Not a huge deal. Or so I thought.

I've called the only two "local" Audi dealers (both over an hour away) to schedule a time to get my car in to get the component protection removed. Both have told me the same thing. I need the VIN from the car the "new" radio came from as well as the Serial Number on the actual unit. The SN on the unit isn't a big deal, obviously, but the seller I bought it from sells multiples of these a day and has absolutely no idea what car it actually came from so no VIN. Both Audi dealers basically told me I'm screwed and I need to find someplace that's not them to get it removed.

I also know about the AudiEnthusiast.com website and I read that but I don't have the tools or skills necessary to do that myself, and I'd rather not mess either unit up. As much as I hate the dealerships, I'd rather just get it done by them and call it a day.

So, what are my options here? Does anyone know of a place that can remove that protection from the unit for me? Is there someone here on AZ that can do it? I read through the actual thread that does the 3G to 3G+ swap so I figured getting Audi to remove it wouldn't be difficult, and that's why I decided to proceed with this. Any and all help is very much welcomed.

And if I didn't search properly or something, feel free to flame me as I probably deserve it.

There is a guy named "jack" on Skype. He is from Poland and can do CP removal. I'm sure you can google his name, skype, and cp removal and come across something on another forum.) You will need to buy the vag commander cable (I think it was $80-90 last time I checked). And he can do it remote, you'll just have to have laptop connected to car with wifi / data connection.

I would contact him first and make sure his protocol hasn't changed. Then buy whatever cable he say's, and then your set. He's a very nice guy (although some time lapses between messages depending where you are) He'll let you know all pricing up front (and from what I remember, the cable was more expensive than his service).

FWIW, I don't think American dealerships understand / want to understand / mess with any of that.

Components protection is turning into a nightmare. I bought a totaled 2014 Audi S5 without an engine or transmission. I separated the wire harness and pinned it into my 2010 Audi A5. My 2010 A5 is PREMIUM with symphony radio.
here is a listed of what wiring i installed into my car:
    1. Kessy harness
    2. backup sensors and blind spot detector harness
    3. rear view internal and external auto dimming mirrors harness
    4. backup camera harness
    5. MMI and radio trunk unit harness
    6. doors harness and the wire that goes to the driver seat for memory option.
    7. 3 zone AC unit, complete with 3 zone ac unit, air quality sensor, left, right sensors and back potentiometer with all the ducts.

I downloaded 10000 pages PDF file and confirmed everything is correctly pinned and wired into the right locations. My question is for the people who are knowledgeable and would like to help.
I have to install the BCM1, BCM2, door modules, MMI, camera module, cluster, key insert, steering lock, esp module, steering module, radio, gateway and so on. since i have so many modules that requires component protection removal, and since i have the keyfobs for the 2014 S5, can i just adapt my existing ECU, ABS, into the other modules?
this way, i have to pay for two component protection removal.

i also have to install electromagnetically operated steering rack because the j519 from 2013 will not support the servotronic rack.

    any help would be appreciated

    thank you

Contact jack on skype. He removes cp remotely. You just need vas cable that is cheap on eBay.

If you mess with IMMO there is a lot of things that need to match just like abs pump is matched to vin or can can gateway to elv and cluster. If you have old can gateway you can read the pin and adopt using tool like vvdi ($1500) vvdi can read pin and match cluster to IMMO and also mileage correction. If you have a chip clip you can clip on the board and get a binery read. IMMO is usually too portion. This can be copy pasted and written back to chip but again this needs tools. In ur case I would start with Jack to remove cp then deal with IMMO. If your in east coats there are guys here in NJ that can do this stuff locally.

Yup. Took mine in to remove CP on a cluster. 135.00 bucks and 20 mins later it was done. VIN for the cluster not required.

VAS5054a cable - source one from AliExpress around $35.

Guys name is Jack Kirry, based in Poland. He charges €60 for 2G, €80 for 3G/3G+ CP removal. That includes headunit and radio typically on a 2G-3G retrofit. CAN gateway also if required.

I’ve personally used him 9 times and he is very professional at what he does. Worth every penny.

Hey, who is this Jack guy that everyone is talking about and how can I get in touch with him? Do you have any contact info that you can message me? I think I'll need his help removing component protection from a module I have coming in next week.
