    Exhaust pipe size/difference

Hello everyone. I currently drive a 2009 S5 with a 4.2L V8. It's got a custom exhaust at the moment, that is straight piped cat-back. It's a little louder than the wife would like, and instead of continuing with more custom mods I decided to just try and perhaps buy a bolt on if I can. Trouble is, I want to do a mini conversion on the rear end.

I'd like to convert the rear end diffuser of my S5 to the dual single outlet that the 3.2L V6 engine uses on the A5 S-Line of the same year. So the information I'm looking for is...

    Do the 3.2L V6 and 4.2L V8 both use 2.36"/60mm exhaust piping?
Do the 3.2L V6 and 4.2L V8 exhausts both have the same hanger locations?

My plan is more or less, if the answer to both questions above is yes, but an AWE exhaust kit "meant for" the 3.2L V6 and put it on my 4.2L V8, as I'm about 99% sure they're the same thing with the only difference being the exhaust outlets.

If you look at AWE's site, you will see the 3.2 exhaust and the 4.2 exhaust are both made with 2.5" pipe. They also looks exactly the same. I think it's 99% safe to assume they're the same product. Also, both descriptions state the exhaust pipe was increased to 2.5", so the stock pipe diameter is less than 2.5".

I'm fairly certain you can do what you're asking. GL

You could also swap out the axle back portion with a couple of mufflers and single exhaust tips. Good exhaust shop should be able to do that easy with your choice of tips. Easier than swapping out the entire system.

Thanks for all the input guys. I figured it was the same.

My exhaust right now is custom made from myself and a friend, hatchman. It's nice, cost-wise, but it definitely doesn't look pretty underneath lol. I want something guarunteed to fit and last, which is why I'm considering.
