I've emailed Dan about getting a warranty fix for my unit, but thought I'd ask here if anyone has a similar issue ...

Just in the last two weeks my unit has failed to pick up a GPS signal at all. I've tried moving the supplied antenna, purchased a new antenna, and even running no antenna. No matter what I do, the unit always says it can see 13 satellites, but never connects to any. 13 satellites, with or without an antenna.

At first I thought it was a software issue, so I did a factory reset. Exame same thing. 13 satellites, no connection, with or without an antenna.

My last thoughts are a hardware fault of the unit itself ... Any thoughts, anyone?

I see on the RSNAV website that there is supposedly an update as of 6th August 2018, but the file for B8(RSA-10XXX, RSA-70XXX) 1024x600 Resolution, Region Europe (LTE BAND 1,3,7,38,39,40,41) doesn't appear to have changed and is still the June file.

Where can I find the latest update for my unit?

    Thanks

I think I've been replying too fast before... LoL.

I read all of your emails and catching up as fast as I can, but it's hard to handle 50 emails per day.

For the GPS issue, it appears ground loop has something to do with it. I had the same symptom in my 2010, whenever I remove the backplate of my 10.1". Ok, if I reassemble together.

Having gps fix of 13 means the GPS core is alive, but it could be GPS antenna connector inside maybe got loose. How's your wifi,by ?

I am sorry to all. I am trying to monitor these threads, but it's really crazy in these days.

    It's not getting released purely
    I didn't authorize it.
And the reason I didn't is I haven't tested it yet, and the reason I haven't tested it is because my 2010 is in a body shop...

Also, I think there are still many fixes missing so I am not so serious about update quickly but instead I want to include as many fixes as we can.

I've just retrofitted a reverse camera on my car, and connected to RSNav, all working great, but I have a question....

...Is it technically possible to change the camera overlay lines with a future firmware update?
I'm finding the blue shading is not as translucent as I would like, so in dark situations, it's a bit overpowering. Could it be made more translucent or even be removed entirely?
I'd also prefer the red line be removed since it sits too low in the image and is essentially useless.

So I installed the RSnav Apple Standalone on my 17’ Sq5,everything is working great but it seems that I can’t connect my phone via Bluetooth anymore. Has anyone else have this problem and possibly have a solution?

I agree. I find the blue shading difficult to see through during nighttime. During the day it is ok, but it would be great to adjust the transparency or completely remove the blue and just leave the outer lines. Either would be great if possible.

It's on TW8836's firmware but that graphic chip firmware is limitely accessible so have to try. Will advise Mr. LI to try once the factory resumes its operation next week.

What about the new update patch? Is it safe to install?

A nice improvement in the RSNAV web would be a "subscription" option that led in mails sent when new updates are available.

    LoL

We just tested Android 7.0 (REAL) on an old 2GB, 16GB unit.

Well, I know that looks awful with the wrong orientation, but what is important is our existing system can boot into Android 7.0 without too much difficulty.

This is real Android 7.0 for Audi, whereas others are stuck with Android 6.0 under Android 7.1 skin.

    So here is some news.

    - We will adjust default brightness for day and night as suggested
    - Those BT OBD II dongles without passkey will be supported soon(BT 4.0)
    - Android 7.0 transition is happening
    - 2G MMI CANBUS data capturing for a prototype is scheduled this week.

Awesome, good to see the RHD getting some love :) Is this why the 11 units have been held up since the factory re-opened?

Very nice Daniel, excited to get the update for my region.

Can you maybe explain a bit more by what you mean by "If CANBUS malfunction - such as losing working dynamic parking guideline or parking sensors, do reflash proper CANBUS update."

I have the latest update loaded but still having issues with the PDC and parking lanes not working (B8 Concert/Symphony Radio: 2018-06-03,V119)

Will there be a new CANBUS update?

    Hi Daniel,

    What’s the estimated release date / public beta for 7” MMI3G/+ (pre-1806)?

Is it being lowest priority already?

    A few questions.

    1. Is the 8.8" version available in LHT for the UK?

    2. If I have MMI 3G plus (2015 S5) which version am I looking for?

    3. Is there an easy way to understand how many of the OEM features go through the new interface, ie. mean that you don't have to switch back to the OEM interface. For example, the rear cameras and the parking sensors have a display screen native to the mmi unit. If you install the RSNav (but don't connect cameras directly to it) when reversing, does it revert to the OEM screen, or does it display its own version.

Likewise, if looking are car settings menu, does the RSNav access the same data and replicate those screens using its own gui, or would you simply revert to the oem system.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, is the ultimate aim of the the RSNav to be able to replicate all the OEM functions so that you don't need to revert to the OEM, it is just there for ease of connectivity.

I notice this product is geared toward android auto. Would it be foolish to buy this over the carplay add on, if I am more of an apple person?

@ Adamantium - If you refer to the RSNAV website, you should find most of your answers on the Wiki page.

For #3; when you need to go into the OEM interfaces, you switch using the RSNAV (touch/select the icon) and it then passes the OEM display through to the new display. The RSNAV is simply then a nicer display, all OEM functionality is as it was, it's just being displayed on the new display. You would interact with the OEM interface the same as you would prior to installing the RSNAV unit.

for your last point, I'm using an iPhone, and it interacts just fine with the RSNAV. Both are integrated as much as each of the operating systems will allow. I think Android allows for a few features that Apple doesn't expose, so no way of getting around that. To use your iPhone for Apple CarPlay you will need to get the dongle. Once you plug your phone into the dongle that is plugged into the RSNAV, ACP works very well. You can otherwise connect your iPhone to the RSNAV using Bluetooth as well to stream music, wifi hotspot etc.

For the OEM cameras, there is a setting within the RSNAV that you need to set for the camera (to tell it you have the oem camera), once that is set, as soon as you put the car into reverse, the display automatically switches to the camera view with the parking sensor display. You don't need to touch anything, it switches to camera view while in reverse and then switches back out again to the regular display afterwards.

I´m using an iPhone too and I´d lke to know if there is way to automatically start playing music A2DP when paired via BT with RSNAV unit. I´ve tried several android like Task apps with no result.
    Thanks!

    Cybernet99,

Thank you so much for the help. That makes everything a lot clearer.

I got this far reading the whole thread and had no idea about the dongle, so that's a new one for me.

One final question though perhaps not right to ask here - the carplay module that seems to be an alternative to this - there seem to be loads of identical looking products on aliexpress for much less money, without the fantastic technical support and firmware updates that Daniel is providing. Am I right in thinking that the hardware is generic but the soft/firmware is different between his product and the others on the market for less money?

Um like I mentioned in my post, go to the website. You can read up on the Aliexpress comparisons as well.

For the actual headunit, the RSNAV unit, it is heads and shoulders well above everything else that is on the market, in terms of hardware and support. It is also the only version, that I am aware of that is running a "real" version of Android 6, and is being prepped to run Android 7. again the real version of the OS. As Whity mentions, there is more information and reading to be done on the RSNAV Wiki.

If you are actually talking about the small ACP dongle only, yes there are a few out there ... I'm not sure if any one is any different or any better than another. BUT, if you get the dongle from Daniel, then you can be assured that is the one that he (and others from the community, like myself) are posting firmware and software updates for that have been confirmed to work with that particular unit.

So I've now received my new unit with the 3gb/64gb upgrade. Here's my thoughts so far.

On the upgraded board - If you're on the fence about doing it, just do it. My old 2gb unit would take upwards of 2 minutes to boot, but the new unit boots in around 45 seconds. Everything is significantly smoother, and it feels way more like a premium product. RSNav should really make this the default option and just bump up the price of the product.

Android Auto dongle - If you are going to be using Android Auto, pick up the USB dongle. I was using Headunit Reloaded on my 2gb unit and it would stutter, crash, carry on, etc. I could only get it to use 480p. I now have the RSnav Dongle, and I'm getting fluid 1080p on the display, connects every time, no drop outs. I didn't think it would work as well as it does, but it's awesome.

So I'm loving the upgraded 3gb unit. Only downside is returning my old faulty unit. The team go quiet whenever I ask for the return address and it seems they don't want to deal with faulty products. Hopefully that changes soon ...

Thanks Daniel! I appreciate the response, and was unaware of the typhoon until now. Whoops ...

On a different note, it is worth putting a bit more information on the RSNav website about the USB dongle and how awesome it is. I still don't know what that little black box was for that came with it, but having smooth 1080p Android Auto is orgasmic.

Yes @Danaldson, you need the one labelled for Concert/Symphony and B8.5.

Updated my iPhone 7 to iOS 12 and now the "AutoBox" dongle won't sync up with the phone. The app loads on the headunit and on plugging in the iPhone the loading icon fires off, but then it just drops back to the "plug you device into the usb port" screen. Hoping theres and update soon for the app. (BTW, does anyone know where to go directly to the "AutoBox" app developers to leave feedback?

You need to update the dongle to the latest firmware (link is on the RSNAV wiki site) and install the matching software file. Then you can perform an over the air firmware and software update. Once you are at the latest versions it will work.

I updated my phone to iOS 12 this morning and just had the same issue, checked for an update within the app and installed the update and it works perfectly now again.

Yes, I'm aware. I was already on the Box version 2018.06.26.1620. I updated to 2018.09.03.1744. Still no joy. All other firmware versions are the latest (not beta).

I restarted the iPhone. No joy.
I restarted the RSNav. No joy.
I deleted the 'AutoBox' profile in Settings->General->CarPlay. No joy, and the phone doesn't even recognize a CarPlay accessory.

So I really do need some help...
