Iroz Motorsports RS3 (8v facelift IMS RS3/TTRS Intercooler)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just arrived Thread titled for only an RS3 at the moment believe Iroz will have the TTRS version shortly. Already have Iroz's Dp's install last week and excited to get some cooler intake temps. Ordered a few weeks ago to get on the list for building one of these bad boys since these are small run custom parts. Quality looks great, surprised to see CNC'd ends, that a lot of machining! From the data they shared it seems like one will acheive pretty impressive gains with intake temps or not be robbed once heat comes into play especially when adding more boost (tune coming next). Where we live down hear in fL we need as much help as possible its hot!!! Trying to get this intercooler installed this week will report back on install. So far from what I gather there is no instruction other then time and hope its a direct replacement fitment. Time will tell, if anyone has any suggestions or inside prior doing the job please feel free to share. Thanks!

Product link and photos from Iroz's site.

LOL thanks, I've had so many cars and modded the crap out of them but never documented swat felt like changing it up. BTW see you're in FL too, hoping this helps with the FL summer heat. I've felt a different already in performance with the RS3 on different temp days.

i sense another video in the making lol

I see a lot of people talking about intercoolers with this car, is the stock one really that inefficient? because the stock one looks pretty beefy.

Yep, i've already felt the effects of heat soak here in FL, i'll be definitely getting an intercooler as well! I wish I wasn't so far from where you are so I can hear your RS3 in person :P You got a black front intercooler.. but their pictures on Iroz show it's all silver.. is that an option? The stealth look is nice too.

That was the MK2 TTRS. For the MK3 TTRS and RS3 FL Iroz has a development hybrid using Xona internals and I am thinking around 580whp+. We will put one on my MK3 TTRS soon

About double the surface area on the aftermarket.. I was surprised to see how large the factory one is too.. don't think it's an immediate type of upgrade though tbh.

I can’t run stage 2 software on my car with the stock Intercooler. After a 1/4 mile run My IAT’s run about 40 degrees celsius above Hank’s RS3 with this Intercooler. Heal soak comes on quickly without this.

Do you still recommend the Iroz inter cooler? I’m between the forge ic and Iroz IC... My ultimate goal is Stage 2 93oct... I’m in South Texas, it’s HOT!

I recommend it, dyno runs were 70 seconds apart and I made almost the exact same power. No heat soak here.

I don't see power gains on the dyno but I do see that the power and torque is arriving a bit sooner(verticals bars/reading) further to the left(power sooner). Do you have the whole picture of the dynograph?
8V RS3 [email protected] mph (ran a few 11.7s stock and ran 118+mph several times)
8Y RS3 k&N filter ran [email protected] (ran 11.6 5 times and trapped 120+ several times)
    at 3100ft elevation

This picture is just to show how quickly the runs were back to back and the consistency of the power made.

I'm just curious, why do you love yours if you saw a huge degradation of power with it on the dyno with both APR and Unitronic software?

The FMIC is designed for real world driving not a hot 100+ dyno. On the streets when I run my friends ttrs you should see how much of a difference it makes.

This is good news. I was worried the stock crash bar blocked to much of the intercooler. Did you modify your crash bar at all? How much of the intercooler is stuck behind the crash bar?

I was really considering IROZ IC, but then this came up. However, I am NOT feeling the crash bar size reduction!

Almost perfect, can't wait for Unitronic's version, but I need an IC now, yep, all of a sudden and a DP with staight midpipes, for E85 goodness.

My question now is, ok, they got rid of the crash bar from covering the IC (good idea and safe?).
But, what about the grill section that still covers that part of the IC?
NM, saw it is a seperate piece, and for the 1st time saw the vents to DSG coolers are both open, could have swore they were closed, and was like why??!! :losingit:

I decided on the Forge IC myself. I don’t like the idea of half the IC being behind the crash bar. Makes no sence to me

If the heat exchanger has to be seen to be effective, virtually every mid engine car, every rear engine car, and a ton of front engine cars are majorly doing it wrong. Furthermore, how is the radiator and AC condenser even remotely effective with the crash support in place? Last, how does the air scoop up top get fresh air to the turbo? I can't see it either if I am looking at the front of the car.

Some reflective thinking to help people ponder how high pressure zones work if the heat exchanger is baffled to force the air through the core at speed.

    Cheers

    Hank

That's a problem these days in various parts of life. It's a struggle for people to think for themselves as they follow the latest hype. =/

Love my IROZ IC still ;).
