Had my car converted to standalone ecu. I chose Link thunder. When i started looking in to this few years ago i could not get any clear answers for using 1.8t ecus with 2.7tt. Obviously getting engine running on standalone isnt a big deal, i was more concerned with gauges and ABS. So here is what you need to do.
cluster option 1
use vag com to recode cluster to older version year 2000 need value 0 vs 1025
use all analog pinout on back of cluster .
cluster option 2 CAN signal
use vag com to code cluster to 2001 and up value 1025 or 1027 vs 0 and code it for 4cyl turbo
in option 2 some gauges like water temp , battery ,fuel , oil. use pin on back of cluster . rpm , some warning symbols work on bus signal.
i got impatient before i figured out CAN BUS settings and ripped out my abs before i could get it working . I have since learned that abs on 2.7tt communicates with ecu over slow k line bus, but abs 5.7 has both k line and high bus communication . So in theory if we program abs to look for high bus signal everything will work like factory. 1.8t setting 90% positive will work.
