standalone with 1.8t or audi tt CAN BUS

Had my car converted to standalone ecu. I chose Link thunder. When i started looking in to this few years ago i could not get any clear answers for using 1.8t ecus with 2.7tt. Obviously getting engine running on standalone isnt a big deal, i was more concerned with gauges and ABS. So here is what you need to do.

    cluster option 1
use vag com to recode cluster to older version year 2000 need value 0 vs 1025
use all analog pinout on back of cluster .

    cluster option 2 CAN signal
use vag com to code cluster to 2001 and up value 1025 or 1027 vs 0 and code it for 4cyl turbo
in option 2 some gauges like water temp , battery ,fuel , oil. use pin on back of cluster . rpm , some warning symbols work on bus signal.

i got impatient before i figured out CAN BUS settings and ripped out my abs before i could get it working . I have since learned that abs on 2.7tt communicates with ecu over slow k line bus, but abs 5.7 has both k line and high bus communication . So in theory if we program abs to look for high bus signal everything will work like factory. 1.8t setting 90% positive will work.

i've been working through this stuff slowly.

so i could use some clarification on your comments, as I dont fully understand.

    option2
when you say the water temp, fuel, oil use pin, do you mean you have to do a rewire? or?

for ABS, is 5.7 referencing the ABS version? do you think if we swapped in the 4cy abs controller module that would work?

This brings back nightmares given it's relevance to allroad immobilizers/all in general. Nefmotos cluster/immo thread may be of use. I can't say there's an answer there for sure, but it's a place to start.

What year is your car and what ecu are you using?
Some gauges run off CAN signal and some run in analog , just tap in to where factory ecu was.
I don't think you need to change abs module just code it for 1.8t a4 with vag com

    2001.5 aem infinity

im full replacement right now, factory ecu is completely removed. was thinking of reinserting and piggy backing the factory ecu to get rid of the ABS and traction control lights

no vag com, you think i can get away with vagcom lite? or i have access to one of those handheld vag scanners https://www.amazon.com/Xtool-Vag401-...ds=vag+scanner

thanks for the input so far!

Probably not getting into abs but that's a total guess. I know someone who has 409 full version that would likely do the trick.

    Adaptation line 60 value 1025 . Then recode 07244 . for cluster .
abs code to xxx75 . with x left unchanged.

Might need to calibrate yaw sensor after abs recode . follow rosstech instructions . best place to calibrate yaw sensor is large unoccupied parking lot or some thing like it.

thanks replica_rs4, ill see what i can do

also found this vid and links, which after watching and reading, all the codes u just gave me make sense.

    FOLLOW UP

ok, got vag com and everything setup and working. managed to recode my cluster, no probs. i am having issues recoding my abs, it will not retain/save the new softcode. i have tried everything in this link, and appears others are having this same issue.

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...eir-ABS-module

i can login (09495) fine, and i know that because if you login with the wrong code it will disconnect you from vagcom and you will have to reboot everything. then when i type in the new recode 04375 (stock for me is 04395) it will not save it. ive also done the recal of the steering angle sensor just like it says in the video and the ross tech site, nothing i do will make the new recode save/stick. no codes for abs module before, during, or after attempting to recode.

from reading the link above, it appears the only people able to recode are ones that have new units or somehow reset their unit to have a code of 00000.

    any suggestions?

Hmm. I had no problems recoding my module after yaw sensor replacement . try changing 3rd digit in abs coding . try all brake options coding.

Make sure you have no errors besides bus signal error on abs. Worst case , grab abs sensor out of 2001.5 + a4 1.8t . and swap it.

Try 09395 login then 04375 coding . I think login that you used is for 5.3 abs. Maybe also double check what abs module you have 5.3 or 5.7 . it will tell you as soon as you open abs module.

yea no CELs on the ECM. it seems when someone tries to change out parts of the system it resets and forces a recode, i guess i could try that, time to track down a new yaw sensor

if i login with anyting that is not 09495 which is what my car is, it will lock me out, so im quite confident i have the right coding. i tried to login with 09475 which is what we want, but no luck, it just locks me out. ill double check physically what my abs is, pretty sure its 5.3.

I apologize I was wrong. Our cars came with 5.0 and 5.3 abs, not 5.3 and 5.7 abs.
5.0 doesn't matter as it was very early cars pre 1999
5.7 abs has ability to communicate over k line slow Bus and high speed Bus, depending on how it is coded.
2.7tt and abs 5.3 communicate over slow k line Bus , there is no k line on any of the aftermarket ecu.
I hope that 5.3 abs has same ability as 5.7 to communicate over high and low speed bus, if its just k line slow bus it will not work with out factory ecu as a piggy back.
That 4th digit in abs coding try all of them , its the only that changes relevant communication protocol for this application .
I hope you get it working, if not I can share my proportioning valve set up for rear brakes.

Just a thought , try coding to a4 brake option not hp2 . this most likely why its not accepting 4 or 5 cyl option and HP 2 s4 option. Good luck.
