Besides helping infringe on legitimate US and foreign patents effectively taking away all research and development incentive in the performance realm with imports from China. What has been new on the platform ?

Of the vendors that have some presence still, SRM, FT, TC, PB5, JHM; none have sold a turbo with the same specs as the BW K03 or BW K04. Who do you envision would be investing the R&D money into this low value aging car if the aforementioned companies did not offer products?

Apparently making a tongue in cheek comment about my chinese wife is considered racism here. Such twaddle. Considering that this entire basis of this thread is race-baiting in the first place....

whoever thinks this is racist is stupid, and probably has never encountered real racism in his life:

"only one way to beat the SOMETHING SOMETHING THEY TERK OUR JEEEEEERBS.

marry their women and breed them out of existence like i did."

Accusing me of racism? Not cool.

China is a homogenously ethnic country hahah, with many human rights oppressions. They have taken intellectual property from site sponsors and replicated them without just compensation driving down consumers willingness to pay (WTP) for high performance parts and decreasing even enthusiast owned companies profits.

My aim is at China not Chinese Americans or Asian Americans 🙄

Oh sure, and western nations have never engaged in unethical practices...

Your post could be construed as racism far more readily than my little joke about diluting the chinese gene pool. I'm not offended by your post, just offended by whatever idiot was offended by my harmless joke about my own family enough to report it to the admins.

    Chinese turbos

Aren’t the CHras in the SRM hybrids (K04 and the K24 RS6) made in Taiwan? Generally speaking quality control in Taiwanese products is superior to those manufactured in mainland China. Taiwanese labor is much more skilled and expensive than Chinese manufacturing labor. The labor laws in Taiwan resemble those in Japan and other more developed or western nations, more than they do China’s. What regulations China does have on their books, are also loosely followed. So perhaps that’s worth noting for SRM.

Either way no, none of these will match the quality of a German engineered and manufactured Borg Warner turbo.

What is your basis for this argument? If material and measurement standards are held to, and the exact same machinery is used, the CHRAs could be made on the moon by cross dressing midgets for all I care.

This is true. It just takes some doing to force the Chinese companies to adhere to the material and measurement standards. In 2010 I did an internship at a German car company's materials QA lab, in Germany. One of the primary functions was to tear down and test components made by suppliers for compliance to the design standards. Chinese parts, even those from non-Chinese companies, consistently tried to cut corners in every conceivable way in order to maximize profits. Sure there are unethical practices in every country but we did not experience the same kind of systematic corner-cutting from any other supplier.

They sent the failure analysis lead to head up QA in China right when I was leaving. You can get them to comply, but its an uphill battle for sure. I think thats why people say it will never match German quality. Not that they are incapable, just because they will always find a corner to cut.

China is capable of producing very high quality products.

It's just that everyone(consumers) want shit for cheap.

If people think they're going to get the same quality for half the price... I don't know what to say. Go for it?

Overall I despise a lot of Chinese business practices. Blatant rip offs of designs, poor quality control, shit conditions for workers, etc... But as long as there's a market for inferior products they will keep supplying. I do my best to support companies that engineer/design original products.

Unfortunately, with respect to the subject product, designing and engineering a turbocharger from scratch is the domain of the BorgWarners and Garretts, neither of which appears to be developing a new product for the 2.7T application.

Totally agree. Depends on the product.

My BW K04s needed a rebuild and I just bought new center sections rather than "upgrading" to something else... although it's also because I like the K04 power band and didn't want to change things for the sake of trying something new.

And I’m sure the precious little snowflake will never come out of the shadows and actually have a discussion. Fucking cowards.

Much rather have the Taiwanese made stuff than mainland China stuff.
And people aren't buying this political correctness stuff anymore.
