    update to S6, lol.

but really depends on how much you want to spend.
Stage 2, or dual puelly if you want more power, suspension, wheels, sway-bars, drive train inserts. Honeycomb grills...etc

    Tune
    Pulley(s)
    Ultracharger
    Ditch cats
    Merc quad pass heat exchanger
    Q5 3.0T tranny swap
    Shorter diameter tires
TCU tune so you can shift at 7400

Do all that and on race fuel you should run 10.9-11.1

Hmm i already have a tune and pulleys. Ultra charger does sound like the next step. Why a q5 tranny swap?

Because the C7 A6 only has a 2.85 final drive ratio. The Q5 3.0T, A8 3.0T and a few other Audi models share the same ZF 8 speed trans but have a 3.20 final drive ratio. The shorter gears combined with a shorter tire plus a 7400 RPM TCU tune (or perhaps just rev limiter with manual autoshift disabled via VCDS) would make an ENORMOUS difference on this car. Why? Go look at the dyno sheets on APR's website. The 3.0T continually makes power to 7400 RPMs. You want to shift as high as you can to stay in the meat of that powerband. The shorter gears and shorter tires will help there bigly as well. I believe this is what would bridge the gap between the B8 S4 and C7 A6 3.0T. Most people don't realize the two cars weigh within 100lbs of eachother. S4 is so much faster primarily because of the shorter gearing in the Stronic trans combined with the 7000+ RPM shifts. The A6 is a dog because of long gearing and shifts that occur at too low of an RPM.

Skip the shit and go stage 2. APR is good stuff. Then when you get bored with that- cooling plus dual pulley. Don't waste any money on ultracharger. That is the end of the road for the c7.

Has this been performed by anyone? Would love to know more details on if this is a true direct swap or a tedious endeavor with electronics.

Not that I'm aware of. I also wonder about the mechatronic and electronics. The best thing to do would be to just swap over the final drive from the Q5 trans to yours. A bit more labor but also much much less chance of an electronic/mechatronic/tuning issue. I've seen guys with C7 Z06s tearing into the ZF 8 speed transmissions so it's definitely doable.

It's a shame the C7 came with such wimpy gears. Just going from the 2.85 to 3.20's with a shorter tire and the 7400 RPM shifts will probably knock off half a second in the 1/4 mile.

    What year is the car?

    I'd recommend TCU tune.

Absolutely the TCU tune, maybe scratch the downpipes unless they need replacement. Rear sway bar helps especially on stock suspension.

Everyone says a stage 1 tune. I'm patiently waiting for another APR sale and then head to DE to get no tax and also score a loaner car from Audi Wilmington (if they offer one).

Also for those that get a TCU tune, how much better is it? When I drive BMWs, the ZF8 on downshifts are snappy and the most recent BMW I drove was a little 4-cylinder 330i. The M cars are almost like dual clutches. Does a TCU bring the ZF8 on our Audis up to that level of downshift snappiness? I'm very happy with upshifts but the downshifts leave a lot to be desired. The snappiest shift I get is 5 → 4. Shifting from 3 → 2 is blaaaa. I usually add a very small amount of throttle (about 1/16 throttle) to get a faster shift and also get supercharger whine on the downshift like the DSG S4/S5. Possibly anyone have a video of them downshifting after a TCU tune?

Heat exchanger and 207mm are a great option. You would be leaving a lot on the table if you don't couple it with transmission software though.

We also have a great sounding catback for the C7.

I can honor our recent labor day sale for you, if you are interested in our ECU/TCU Combo since the sale was very recent. I too have a 2012 A6, though I am not stage 2 with our 207mm pulley.

The ZF8 software is incredible IMO. Shifts are quick and snappy, but also smooth and crisp. Very refined.

We sell black 10:1 to silver. However, I too prefer the silver! It shows itself just enough to let people know you are serious ;)

You have all those mods yet no TCU tune? You are leaving a noticeable amount of usable torque on the table, not to mention a much more sporty yet pleasant driving experience, even when you're not gunning it.

Yea you are leaving a bit of performance and even quality of life (IMO) by not having a TCU tune. Luckily ours is pretty affordable: https://jhmotorsports.com/jhm-zf8-tc...-sq5-3-0t.html

Another for consideration. I did not use your mounting bracket, as I wanted the HX as close to the radiator stack as possible.

Which TCU tune would you suggest? There are a lot of options available. My real question is; Are the TCU tunes optimized for the Tuner's particular ECU tunes? Since APR has no TCU tune for the ZF 8-speed, which works best with APR stage II+ UC?

I know Malen does custom, But JHM seems to be a great value among the Audi Mod retailers like 034 or IE

Our TCU software will work with any other ECU software. If for some reason, there is conflict our calibration team will happily adjust the TCU software, so everything is copasetic. We've have also tuned UC cars before so we have files for that as well if someone was looking to make a switch.

Jake, I'm going to Bluewater Performance in Denver this afternoon. Is there anything I need to tell them about which TCU tune we should start with?

What does your TCU move the redline shift point to?

Depends on the redline of your ECU software. Either 7200rpm or stock shift point
