Anyone do a resonator delete for 3.0?

Since the 034 resonator delete pipe doesn't fit the q5 3.0, anyone here ever do one with a muffler shop?

I run the AWE non-resonated down-pipes with the stock exhaust. There is no drone. WOT is pretty raw, but the rest of the time it's nearly as quiet as stock. It ain't for everyone, but I rather like when the growl turns to a roar.

I got them on sale from Mops. There's no welding and I did them both in about two hours, but I was taking pictures during.
If you search around, you may find some used for cheap from someone that removed them for trade-in.

It will drone. Mine was terrible. It didn’t sound sportier, just shittier. To be clear, the 3.0 exhaust has two resonators, a center muffler and two rear mufflers (at least mine did). I keep seeing people saying they removed the “center resonator.” Unless the exhaust is different on a Q5 3.0 than an A7, there isn’t a “center resonator”

In my experience, removing center muffler made it 10% louder and 8% shittier sounding. Removing the resonators made it 30% louder and 148% shittier. It was so bad I was embarrassed to drive it.

My advice is not to touch it unless you want to do a full system. Especially if it’s your wife’s car.

The videos really won’t help because they never communicate the drone well. Worst of all, the drone is from daily driving, not getting hard on the throttle. The automatic trans likes to keep the motor in the “drone zone” in normal driving. Killed me.

Do any of these actually meaningfully increase power, or is it all about sound? Published dyno charts before and after, otherwise stock or with other mods. I'm EPL Stage 2. Would like more gains, but want the car to remain a sleeper SUV as much as possible.

Power gains don't come from deleting the resonators. It comes from the larger diameter pipes that replace them. Generally, improving the front half of the exhaust can yield significant gains, while the back half is all about the sound. When I can keep my foot out of it, it's quite quiet. When I can't, those AWE NRDP's sound almost as raw as open pipes. It's not for everyone, but that's what I wanted. . .Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. I have no drone, except for the rumble at idle in gear (sounds pretty mean). Sometimes I wish I could go fast quietly, but that would only require taking manual control of the valves, which I am considering.

Sorry, I meant as in full exhaust. LOL The thread went from just deleting resonator to MF full exhaust as MF came out of no where. Weight between the stock and MF full was about 30lbs. Stock is freaking heavy and impossible to get out especially when you're under the damn jackstand.

I only have experience with AWE on my 3.0. Sounds fantastic (AWE downpipes and AWE exhaust). It isn’t loud by any measure and sounds high-end. I think you would be happy with that on a Q5 but it’s a lot more $$ than just cutting stuff off.

Just the downpipes with no center muffler and then keeping the two stock rear mufflers could be a good sound. Would make it slightly louder likely without any drone

just do ecs tuning vacuum cutouts and call it a day you get best of both worlds and your wife wont know anything

i have a supersprint resonator delete .. its for sale.. it removes the secondary resonator ..its all stainless nice piece. can send a pic if you have email..

Absolutely ZERO drone with my setup.

It's my wifes car so she would have killed me if it did. It's silent just cruising.
