    Premium+ vs. Prestige Package

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm deciding between getting the P+ and the Prestige package. There doesn't seem to be that big of a difference in price when I end up adding all the options I want to the P+ verses what comes standard with the Prestige package.

For the P+, I want B&O sound, Nav package, sline package, heated steering wheel, 19" summer wheels. When I price that out it comes to $52K.

When I price out the same thing (adding what the prestige package doesn't come with) the price is $53.2K.

The differences between the packages I see are ambient lighting package plus, parking plus system with top view camera and head up display.

Anyone have thoughts on the Prestige package and what they love about it that the P+ doesn't have? I do LOVE the novelty of the lighting plus package in the Prestige but I don't know it's worth the cost for just that difference.

The primary reasons you should go the Prestige pkg is the Driver's Assistance (DAP) Package (and not the kinda gimmicky interior lighting feature).

DAP as an Automatic Cruise Control and Heads Up Display are truly features you will use and enjoy overtime you get behind the wheel.

Yes, this is worth the cost.

I believe the premium plus also does not get the virtual cockpit or the larger center LCD (8" vs 7"). Not a big deal for the LCD, but the virtual cockpit is essential, imo. I didn't order the DAP myself, though if I drove the car long distances or on family trips I definitely would have. My wife's SUV has this feature and it's extremely useful.

Hmm, hadn't really thought about getting the DAP. I like the idea of adaptive cruise control but I'm mostly city driving or I'm stuck in traffic. I don't get out on the interstate all that much and never take the car on long road trips.

The head up display does intrigue me as I think even with city driving it would be useful.

    Thanks for the reply!

Yes! Essential to have the virtual cockpit, that's one of its best features of the car. I'd add the nav package to the P+ model which would then include the virtual cockpit.

I take it you have The prestige package? Sounds like you love it. Any cool sidenotes to having the prestige package that you love?

    Thanks!

Ahh, right. Yeah that's where I was at, pretty much. That and the B&O were must haves for me, so that's $3550 right there. Only $850 from the price of the prestige, so it almost seemed like a no brainier for me.

As far as other critical features, DEFINITELY the top down parking camera. I find this feature invaluable, and it seems to add a bunch of other camera views, like the ones that look out from the corners of the car to let you see traffic coming from behind when you're pulling out from a parallel parked spot. Also, I'm not sure if this is only on the prestige model or if it's standard on the premium as well, but on my B8.5 S4 (premium plus), I missed the little yellow warning LEDs on the side mirrors that tell you if theres someone in the lane you've signaled for. Again, they could have changed this on the B9 and it's standard on both, but if not, that's another good reason, imo.

Cool! Thanks again...I'm leaning towards going with the prestige. Seems like the price difference is minimal and I'd get a lot of bang for the buck since I need the virtual cockpit and B&O sound. Much appreciated!

Virtual cockpit is a available in the premium plus. Just need to add the Navigation package. If leasing the money factor and residual change the price drastically even though it may be an $850 difference. If purchasing it doesn't matter much

Outside of those features mention above, if you are leasing...the residuals and money factor will be different on a Prestige vs the P+.

Yes. The residual for October is 58% for the Prestige and the Money Factor is .00133. I ordered the Prestige myself. The heads up display, the B&O Sound System and the virtual cockpit are all standard. Worth it.

If you add navigation to the prem plus it has virtual cockpit and the larger center screen. Only go with Prestige if you are planning adding in the driver assistance package. Also if you can configure them to be the same, but the prestige can lease $100 more per month since it has a lower residual.

I debated this and ended up with a loaded Premium Plus. I’ve heard the positive reviews for the driver assist option but after having it on my Volvo and testing it on the Audi, I decided I didn’t want it. The only feature I wish I had is the 360 camera but only for the cool factor. This isn’t a hard car to park but the 360 view in my Volvo always impresses the kids.

That shocks me - I don't think I saw a single S5 within 90 miles of me that wasn't a prestige. This is all the more impressive since that includes the Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington DC markets. Most of them had DAP and DS as well.

I went with the P+ package as well. I really didn't think the DAP and HUD was necessary for me after trying it. The lighting is cool but not worth it to me.

I'm having a hard time finding an A5 prestige with the options I want. Black Sline and Slne wheels. Less than 10 in the whole country as far as I can tell.

I've yet to get a quote on the lease for a prestige but October numbers for a prestige for 36mo/15k are 51% residual and a .00086 MF. Compared to 55% for a premium +. Though I'm hearing almost 7% off MSRP plus $2500 in incentives. Seems to good to be true right now.

There are a lot of p+ out there.

Just changed my S5 order from a Prestige to a loaded Premium Plus. Both cars have the same MSRP of $66,000 and the Premium Plus us $40 cheaper. I test drove the Prestige last night and I'm going to be honest, I had tuned the HUD out completely. The only things I wish I could have kept are the surround view camera's and the extended interior lighting. 61% Residual vs 58% residual. If you are leasing, the Premium Plus is the better choice.

Thanks man!!! Congrats on the new purchase!

I finally got a few quotes for leasing:

36mo/15k Miles. $2000 due at signing. 5% off MSRP for $788 a month. That was after I asked what the residual and MF he was using. He started out at 870/mo. The 788 still seems high. I'm hearing I should be able to get 5-6% off MSRP plus the current loyalty and bonus cash going on in October and that's an additional $1500. So a total of $2500 off + whatever off MSRP.

How was your dealer to work with?
