    TTS wheel fitment and info...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I didn't want to pollute the RS thread, so ... If folks could share the specs and wheels they know will fit and/or what they had to do to make them fit, that would be super. I'm in the market for 19" and all season tires for the winter. I work from home so I can get way with All Seasons.

Looking for rims to run all seasons for 6mo out of the year here in the Northeast.

I see your going with ET 45. I'm not well versed in wheels so if this is a dumb question, feel free to correct me... but I was thinking 19" ET35 to try and get them as flush as possible without sticking out. I don't know what the stock 20" Black Optics rims are... maybe I need to figure that out first.

Also, what do people do with the TPMS sensors if they have 2 wheel sets?

I prefer 18" for Winter as taller sidewall to help with pothole absorption. And dedicated Winter/Snow tires if you're going to the trouble of swapping rims seasonally, esp. in NH.

I run some hand-me-down +34 Rial DH's with 245x40x18 Michelin Alpin's and they are near flush with the external wheel wheels. However consider that although perhaps better looking they will throw up more sand/salt vs. a more "tucked in" higher positive offset (OEM is +50).

The MkIII TT/TTS doesn't have TPMS sensors in the tires but rather utilizes computed differences in rim rotation via ABS/MMI to alert under/over pressure.
[However the TTRS does have TPMS sensors so as to get an accurate track-oriented per tire readout for its display.]

Isn't that considered the direct TPMS option that only comes with the Dynamic Plus Package? Otherwise it's just like the TT/TTS?

In the US yes, but options vary worldwide.

Here is a couple of customer submitted MK3 TT-S:

Customer submitted MK3 TT-S with winter set up
    VMR V718 18x8.5 ET45.
Tires are Michelin Pilot Alpins but sadly, unsure of size as the customer had them done local.

This one was emailed to us last year but MK3 TT-S
    VMR V705 19x8.5 ET35
Tire spec is unknown as they had them sourced local.

Hope these two pics gives a good idea of what these offsets look like on a MK3 TT-S! I'm sure we'll have more to share soon.

Picked up a 2018 TTS last month with the 20” wheels and the Yokohama summer tires. But with winter coming (thankfully mild winters), I bought a set of 19” BBS CH-R wheels for winter duty. Here are the specs:

    Satin Titanium
    19x9.5 +45

Will be pairing them with Continental DWS 06s in 255/35ZR-19.

I’ll post pics when they’ve been installed.

    From Neuspeed RSe102:

    • Size: 19x9.0
    • Offset (E.T.): +45mm
    • PCD (Bolt Pattern): 5-112
    • Center Bore: 66.5mm / 57.1mm (with hub ring)
    • Weight: 20.8 lbs.

    Says that 255/35's might rub.

I have Neuspeed wheels in that size, they don't rub, with 265/30's, so feel fairly sure that 255/35 won't either.

Thanks. 255/35/19 keeps perfect wheel diameter match to stock.

I may just replace my OEM's in the spring with these as well as installing DSW's on these for this winter. Here winter is mostly just cold rain, even w/o the snow makes for dicey driving with Summer Tires.

Any reason you went with 265s? I'm about to go this route for track and street wheels and was planning on 255s for both as most tire manufacturers seem to suggest this on 9" wheels for best handling, so I'm curious on your take!

The tire choice was somewhat limited, I wanted Pirelli Corsa and Trofeo R, the tires are slightly shorter so acceleration is a bit quicker. I run 265/35 18 in the trofeo and 265/30 on the 19.

I never knew that they didn't have TPMS sensors. So if I get an optional set of wheels/tires I need to do nothing more. (?) And what happens if my choice of tire gives me a diameter range that is slightly off from OEM spec? For instance, I am looking at a tire size that is slightly taller in diameter (26.1 OEM, 26.8 aftermarket) so would that work or throw some sort of warning??

Thanks in advance for any comments!

Has anyone successfully fitted 17 inch wheels?

I take delivery of my TTS in 1 week and i'm really looking for a good 17" setup for winter. I want to keep the same diameter so I'm thinking 45 sidewall? I live in Cleveland Ohio and the roads are unacceptable during the winter.

So these are rubbing in the back over even modest bumps. The rear fenders don’t really have a lip to roll for extra clearance.
BRKNJMPR has this same wheel on his TTRS lowered with MSS and a larger 275/30/20 MPS4’s and states no problem, so any ideas why my smaller 265’s won’t clear?

The rear wheel to fender gap is 15.8mm.
The rear camber is -1.4 degrees. (Spec range is -1.8 to 0.8)

Dumb question, but did you check the stamping on the rims to make sure they are the offset you were expecting?

I raised the rear 1/8” to the oem height and it still rubs. I don’t see how these will fit. I’ll take it to the shop and see if the oem 255 fit with these 20x9et35 HRE’s.

I run a stock suspension (currently) with HRE wheels. The rear's are 20X9.5 ET 40, so they should be 1.3 MM further out. I also have the 265/30/20 MPS4 tires and have not had any rubbing. I just went to check again to be sure.

    What suspension are you running?
Maybe the spring rates are lower/softer than the stock TTS rears, so you're getting more body roll...??

FWIW, I'm also running 20 x 9.5, but with a 40 offset (ABT FRs) and 275/30-20 DWS06s, and no rubbing...

I don’t have the exact specs, the car is very new, only about 500 miles so far. Whatever it was set at the factory. Definitely some camber dialed in.

I also wonder if the aftermarket springs my be a bit softer?

    Very odd.
    MSS Kits Street.
I don’t know the sidewall shape differences between Conti v Michelin....but PS4S are on the taller side anyhow.
To be clear, I’m rubbing when the springs compress (driveway, turns, speed bumps, etc). Just sitting on the ground, everything is fine.

I set the mag to dynamic on the way home, which seemed to help avoid rubbing on highway bumps. Any speed bump or driveway is unbearable though. Factory camber is around -1.4/-1.6, but this seems more than a 0.2” problem.

Maybe. Probably better ride comfort to go with 255 + Streets than 265 + Sport/Track for a street car though. I should have went to 19”.
The first Street MSS was done by TAG with the same wheel specs, but with oem tire specs...so 255 is supposedly the tried and true answer.

Compared to the HRE’s with the larger tires, the oem forged 20’s aren’t as light as I thought.

That’s great news! What height are you at now? I know you had raised it to stock height recently.

Do you like the ride of the MSSkit more than stock?

I’d like to order these but have been on the fence after watching this thread. I would only lower the ride a half inch or so due to a very steep incline into our underground parking.

The MSS Street imo is very soft...makes it feel like stock, just lower. This is great for ride comfort, but not suspension travel on the wheels and tires I chose. The clearance is with it back in the lowered position. I’ll snap a pic when I can clean the car over the weekend.
