I do have a pair of 21 inch OEM SQ5 wheels in perfect shape, but considering bigger wheel, will rotational mass drastically effect performance? I know ride will be sacrificed somewhat, but curious how much of difference running that size wheel on here feels performance wise. or am I completely overthinking lol
lemme know if anyone has thoughts
I don’t have data to back up my opinion, so it’s just that, my opinion. I went from OEM 20’s to OEM 21” Rotors, which are about 3-5lbs heavier on each corner. Higher speeds it’s far less noticeable to me - car accelerates well and pulls hard. At lower speeds is where it doesn’t feel as “nimble” compared to the 20’s, which is expected in my mind with a larger/heavier wheel. It’s a marginal difference at best, but I do think I notice it. I’m sure if I had a different 21” wheel, that was the same weight or lighter, it wouldn’t be noticeable at all.
Once I start pulling the trigger on performance mods, I was going to do some draggy baseline numbers, and at the same time try to see if there is a difference with wheel set-up. Likely to happen this spring/summer. We shall see
