Show me your painted calipers!!

Few weeks have past and I still could not make up my mind on what color I should go with!! Car is a Nardo Gray RS7 with the OEM blade wheels right now. My Matte black PurWheels should arrive within the next few weeks! Right now my best choice would be the Metallic Blue or the Copper/Orange colored calipers. Was thinking of going with red but it seems a bit too common nowadays. Anyways, post a pic of your painted calipers to help widen my options!!

Not a RS7 but red calipers are classic, they are universally recognized as high performance and they do add pop to the wheels.

If you run a dark wheel, a lighter or bright caliper is a nice to draw attention to the wheels.

I have powdercoated a few sets of calipers. I would say the reason red is most common is because it was popularized by brembo, but it also hides dust fairly well.

I have seen all sorts of colors but I feel you need another accent, something as small as the V8T badge would help if you wanted a bright silver. Or matching to body color is sharp on some colors or can be overdone.

I chose silver. I really have a pet peeve about painting brakes flashy colors representing big brake kits but to each their own. The silver is completely subtle, but cleans up the look in a major way. Pictures suck I know, sorry.
I spent several hours with a die grinder grinding out the orange peel from the castings to get a smooth appearance on the calipers. Definitely worth the effort.

Silver would look nice on a dark colored car with dark colored wheels. not sure about it on Nardo tho

Paint and powder are essentially same concept. Paint chemically cures and powdercoat cures by heat. Proper application of both works well on calipers, with slight edge to powdercoat for durability.

Neither reacts well with brake cleaner, but then again they are smother and you can clean them with dawn and water.


If you have black optics then maybe gloss/mirror black would be a great option with white decals. Nardo grey with black decals. Yellow with grey decals could look sharp as well, white with red decals would be my choice.

I would stay away from the oranges and blues they are not really complementary colors to the soft grey.

Hey guys- I went with "porsche" yellow on my B8 Avant. Plan to powder coat the wheels Ti grey/gunmetal in the spring. And if i keep this car, may wrap it in one of Audi's blue..

Awesome color combination! I love how the brakes really pop against the xpel matte finish on the Sepang... while not subtle, it definitely fits and isn't over the top.

Thank you! I had them painted red prior, but it was just too much "look at me" IMHO. Matches the rest of the cars silver accents now.

You should post up your setup in this thread and it would check mate lol.

I use an ordinary, quality spray paint on my calipers. Never had a problem with it and it makes repairs and resprays easier. The latest color I chose is a metallic red with was supposed to be applied to chrome. I first gave the calipers a coat of silver then the red.
