Why so hard to buy Vorsteiner wheels?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
This will read like a rant, but I am genuinely asking as I have never purchased aftermarket wheels.

How do you buy from Vorsteiner? Do you need to be a member in some secret club?

June 10 I bought VFF 106s from one of their distributor's ebay store. I was pumped. I was told it would be 5-6 weeks to get them. I am a patient man so I settled in for a 6 week wait.

5 week mark, I contact the distributor to confirm we are still on time for the proposed arrival date. I wanted to buy the tires and them ready. I was told it would be another 6 weeks. I was a little annoyed. The distributor was pretty awesome about it all, offering me a pretty good discount + free black lug nuts + red center caps.

On August 8 the distributor reach out to me to let me know that they had very bad news; they were told by Vorsteiner that the VFF 106s were never coming as they had decided to discontinue the wheel for my specific car... I wasn't even mad, I was sad because I really liked those wheels. Distributor was awesome. Offered me more of a discount on any other wheel on their site. Went with my 2nd choice with some VFF 102s... I was told these are very popular wheels and would not be an issue to get them to me in 5-6 weeks...

Fast forward to today... Vorsteiner does not have the 102s ready and there is no estimate on when they can get them...

Is this normal? I've looked at many other wheel brands and styles and I hate that I just love the Vorsteiner designs... I'm just so bummed that almost 11 weeks 14 weeks ago I ordered and paid for something to never get anything...

Is there a better way to get them?

I got VFF-104s for the wifes Allroad straight through Vorsteiner. Had them at my door step in about 2-3 days. Got a great deal and they provided really great customer service. Received one wheel damaged from FedEx and they sent a replacement wheel that same day.
I do believe their stock for some wheels was very low or sold out for a while.

I would definitely hit up @mops@supremepower and he would be able to tell you exactly what is available and what not.

Good luck and hopefully you get your Vorsteiners soon.

HAHA. Dude I think I follow you on Instagram.

Anyways I think I'm going to look at some HREs and cross my fingers it's not another 6 week wait. I'm a little sour on Vorsteiner at the moment.

Hey Ernie - Happy to assist if I can. Were the V-FF 106 you wanted the 19x9.5 ET37? I'm only asking as the V-FF 102 do not come in that fitment. They come in 20x9.5 ET37. I can check to see if those are in stock. Also, I have a couple of V-FF 103 in 19x9.5 ET37.

I know you stated above you plan to put the Vorsteiner option to rest, but I thought I'd reach out anyways. I can get the HRE for you as well. 👍🏼

That is correct on both accounts. The 106s were 19x9.5 et37 and the 102s were going to be 20x9.5 et37 as well.

I was told these would be "flush" and would also cover my Brembo BBK.

So I have credit with these guys and they are giving me a pretty generous discount due to the circumstances so I want to wait to see what the wait time and $$$ on the HRE FF04 19x9.5... of course if it's another 6 week waiting period, I'll ask for a refund and shop elsewhere (you seem to have a lot of backers so probably just go with you).

    Good luck man!

Also, what Brembo BBK and what size? I can promise you the 106 would not have fit anyways, and there is no room for spacing. They barely clear the OEM calipers. Highly doubting the 102 will clear either. Look how close...

With a BBK, you'd need the flat face 20x9 ET35 V-FF fit. The HRE and say BBS CH-R will work fine though. For the S4, both applications are flat face profiles.

The front wheel here is the 20x9 ET35....

I legit feel like buying things for this car is hard. I've been waiting for 034 motorsports' cold air intake. They got it for the S3 and B9S4... but still nothing for the B8.5... wtf.

I'm about to go buy an F80 M3 and buy easy mods.

I have the 380x32 and I saw a picture on Vorsteiner's Instagram like a year ago with some 106s on a b8.5 S4 w/ the same BBK kit.

Shocked. They could have been spaced a bit too. But 380mm helps for sure. I run the same kit on my SQ. Love it! Hope you get sorted. And most certainly have it in righting these various wheels will clear your GT kit. Many will recklessly say yes when they don't know for sure.

Yep, the HRE FF S4 spec wheels are flat.

Back to the 102... they seem to require more spacing for BBK than any V-FF. For example, the 10" concave over RS5 stock calipers needs 12mm spacers to clear. You can see why when viewing the concave profile.

BBS offers a 19x9.5 CH-R that are not completely flat and clear. BBS builds for BBK more so than any other.

Yep. I didn't see where you stated the style. Across the line, the FF wheels for the 4's come with a flat profile and clear BBK's.

    +1 for Mops and Supreme.

Also OP, IMO, you can't always blame the product company in this case. Often people jump and think it is the original companies fault (which part of the OP's problem is) but it seems like you were more screwed by the distributor. In my experience, if you buy direct or if you have a problem with another company and contact the head company, they will take care of you. I see this on a daily basis. People order from one of our distributors, the distributor drops the ball, they buyer blames us. We kindly tell them this was not out fault as we were unaware of the issue since the product was not purchased through us but we are happy to help get their problem resolved.

Look at the mirrors. They are mounted in front of the window. All B9s have the mirrors mounted to the metal on the door. And the bumper is completely different than a B9.

Dude. The S5 sportback was available outside the US for the B8.5 model year. Thats whats in the picture. We're not talking about the B9 here.

Except its not even remotely close enough. We've all already seen that picture because HRE posted it in their thread a while ago. They even said themselves that the S4 fitment won't look that way due to the profile of the wheel and the extra convavity that the S5 is able to run. S4 fitment is likely going to be flatter, which we all know doesn't look that good. If they can pull off the wheel looking the same it would be great, but then we still have the biggest kicker between the S4/S5.. the headlights are upside down

Not to mention that a 9" wide wheel with a +25 offset would have immense poke on a B8.5 and in the picture those wheels appear to be barely flush.

Yup S5 can fit much wider wheels than our S4 can.

Guys. Finally got the wheels in, ceramic coated, and on the car!!!!!

Car is dirty bc it had 2 stage paint correction and ceramic coating 2 weeks ago. Can't do a wash for a few weeks for it to cure.

Looks good, I like the HREs. Been thinking about a set of FF15s for a year now. What fitment do you have going there if you don’t mind me asking? I wouldn’t mind stepping up to a BBK and flow formed wheel combo some day. Looks like you have H&R springs too.
