    CTS Turbo Intake Installed

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Friday night I installed a CTS Turbo Intake on my B8 S4. I went with CTS Turbo's Intake because it came highly recommended by the forum members here as well as a few local Audi guys.

After watching many videos on the sound produced by the supercharger after the intake install, I knew I had to have it. The stock sound is just ok. 90% of the time you can't tell it even has a supercharger based on sound alone. After the Intake, IMO it sounds similar to a Hellcat or as loud as a Kenne Bell or Whipple twin screw setup.

The package came and all the parts were very well wrapped and protected. The only thing missing from the box that would have been nice was instructions. After popping the hood, the stock Intake was out in less than 5 minutes. It was super easy.

After removing the stock intake, the CTS Turbo Intake was fairly straightforward. While instructions weren't included, it was pretty easy to piece together the puzzle. In less than 10-15 minutes, the CTS Turbo Intake was installed. I fired the car up and heard the supercharger scream when I gave it a little rev. I have a before and after video I am going to put together next week and I can share that here as well for anyone looking and considering an Intake for their Audi.

So far I am happy with the results. The Intake brings the supercharger whine front and center. It is still subtle when you aren't mashing the throttle but when you do, it is intoxicating the sound that is now heard. This was my first mod to a bone stock B8 S4. I'm new to the Audi world but I'm thankful for Audizine and the members for being a great resource of information. You can bet future mods will also be heavily researched here on the forum!

I'll post the quick before and after video next week!

Looks like the install is very easy.

Do you guys recommend the CTS turbo intake over the APR, ECS, Injen, etc one?

From local Audi guys and people here on the forum, it all depends. CTS Turbo is a very aggressive and loud sound that it produces. All of the brands above will work great, some more quiet than others but they will all be an improvement over stock.

Let the supercharger whine be heard! I really like the quality and feel of the CTS one. It only took 2 days from order to delivery and I was told their customer service is too notch, which is very important to me.

I'm new to Audi but I'm assuming all the aftermarket intakes, the performance gains will be similar? As the CTS one is exposed while the APR/ECS is enclosed, will there be heat soak with the CTS one?

I do want something that brings out the supercharger whine since I can barely hear it with the stock intake.

The ECS Intake is not enclosed. They have two options: one with a decorative carbon fiber cover, and one without. The only real difference between the ECS intake and the CTS intake is that ECS uses carbon fiber for the pipe where CTS uses metal. Both are open element and should sound about the same.
You can't go wrong with either one.

I took a video of mine after I installed it... Quick pull from a stop, all windows down and sunroof open. Bonus squeal at the end from my 2-year old, enjoying the ride!

I was initially worried it would be too loud, but man I can't get enough! I love seeing people turn their heads to see what's coming, when you get on it!

I couldn't wait to do the install so it all happened in the evening, so lighting wasn't great for a video but I did it anyways. Linked below on my Instagram.

Still in love with this! If you haven't had a chance to check out the video above, check it out for before and after sounds.

I am surprising people when I drive by and they hear a very loud supercharger whine but can't quite figure out it is coming from me until I am gone. It is definitely turning heads.

I just installed the intake and I love the the sound but I feel like my throttle response got a lot worse and from a dead stop I def feel the difference since I installed it. Anyone else have this problem?

I have one on my 2015 6MT Audi S4 and i love the heck out of it. Their customer service is also pretty amazing with 1-2 replies on questions.

I couldn't have asked for a better CAI for the price, the sound observed and the fitment. Thx to the CTS team for this kit....

Is the CTS Turbo filter oiled or dry? They don't mention anything about it on their website
