Hey guys can anyone fill me in on the benefits of an aftermarket turbo muffler and also any recommendations as to what brand or type would be best for our cars? Thanks!!

    Turbo Muffler?

Not sure but the system is pretty free flowing besides the Catalytic converter. You should replace that with a test pipe if you want some gainz. For sound just cut out the resonators

Well the turbo muffler goes right on the exhaust of the turbo housing it looks like. Not an actual muffler per say. I saw one on amazon. It's saying that it creates less restriction on exhaust coming out of the turbo?

I've never heard of it either, but I found this from APR's site on it. Also found one on Eurotuning, but they say they are for the B8/B9 2.0T's and not for the B7.

Good Find. Even with the APR information I'm not sure where it is supposed to go. Looks to be where the diverter valve would be. I say Peter should be safe and just buy a big turbo kit instead. Atleast you will definitely hear the blow off sound of that.

The Transverse 2.0ts had a removable muffler section. Not something you can remove on a b7 though. And it really only affects sound, no power gains.

It's on the exit pipe of the k03/k04 turbos between turbo on 1st intercooler not on the hot side. All it does is removes a baffle or muffler in the turbo. Gives u a bit more sound. From someone who's used 3 different big turbos don't waste your money on this junk. Go buy a new RS4 rsb instead of this junk. Complete waste of hard earned money. Save your money for something that might actually be of use.

I've rebuilt enough of these k03 turbos to know when I see ppl wasting money on useless shit.

Charles is correct, it can be done on our k03 though just requires a bunch of work. Easier to just take it to machine shop have them cut it off and weld new pipe into your compressor housing. This is $120 from a machine shop in inquired to. Thanks Charles I should have added that.

Look for the flow through design rather than the traditional baffled and insulated mufflers.

In another turbo engine car make forum i frequent, guys are just cutting out the mufflers and straight piping. The turbo itself is a muffler for the intents and purposes of muffling exhaust. It's not even super loud or riceboi sounding.

I though you meant exhaust muffler.

APR remove a mesh from their k04s. What is that all about? Seems like their k04s are a cut above the others because of their tweaks like that.

Removing stock turbo muffler does smooth out throttle tip-in response a little at low rpm (1,200rpm ~ 1,800rpm), making city driving with manual or a DSG a little easier.

Its not junk but also by no means a must have either.
