    RS3 Sedan 1/4 mile time

    Hi guys,

    New here.

Did anyone tried their car on the 1/4 mile?

Just curious to know how fast the car is.

I think I saw a 12.4 on YouTube, I was a bit disappointed by that.

    Thank you.

    Just found the video:

Maybe it's because they aren't at sea level.

At sea level it should do in the 11s.

No time slip to prove it though.

There's no way they got 118.6 mph (191 km/h) at the end of the quarter in a stock RS3 :/

118 is not all that far from the multiple 116 mph passes recorded on those time slips in the links above... (with the 11.8 times)

Planning on running my here in fl which is almost sea level to give some feed back, hopefully nearing 11's stock would be impressive.

Where in Florida? I'm up in Jax.. we should take our RS3's to Gainesville and see if we're both consistent.. we can find out if RS3 engines are made to a consistent level as well figure out other variables.

Closest 1/4 mile to me is Bradenton, would be more then happy to meet up together. I've out of Port Charlotte FL, Mines braking in nicely, hopefully to come close to 11's stock.

I just put an order in for a RS3, and will be taking it to Cecil County Drag Strip as soon as it arrives and I get past the break-in period

I got mine yesterday and if I can't get my Cutlass finished for drag week I'll be taking the RS3....if it runs 11s all week I'll be giddy. I see the note about 1000 miles, what's the significance to waiting?

From page 72 of the 2018 owners manual:

"A new vehicle must be broken in for the first
1,000 miles (1,500 km). Do not drive at speeds
that will exceed 2/3 of the maximum permitted
engine speed (RPM) for the first 600 miles
(1,000 km), and avoid full acceleration during
this period. You may gradually start increasing
the RPM and the speed between 600 miles
    (1,000 km) and 1,000 miles (1,500 km).
During the first hours of use, the engine has a
higher internal friction than later on when all
moving parts have settled into place with each
    other.

How the vehicle is driven during the first 1,000
miles (1,500 km) also affects the engine quality.
Drive at moderate engine speeds after the initial
-in period, particularly when running a cold
engine. This will reduce engine wear and improve
    the mileage.

Do not drive at too low of an engine speed (RPM).
Shift down if the engine stops running "smoothly".
Extremely high engine speeds are automatically
    reduced."

I hear that but who hasn't laid into a car like this on a test drive....the issue with ring seating etc is all old school. The bigger issue is running the drivetrain through multiple heat cycles. I'd NEVER reconsider taking it on a 1000 mile trip in one shot and calling it ready.
