Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi all,

I’m looking into getting an used s6. I was thinking of 2013/2014 but then I was thinking of 2016. I just want to hear some of the expert on this forum with the older and the newer s6

    Thanks

They're an awesome car and you can't go too wrong with either.

I'd personally want some kind of warranty on it though (CPO, Audi Approved Plus etc) as the small number of things that could go wrong can still cost a few dollars to fix (engine mounts for example).

Sorry. I know the question was a little vague. I wanted to know if I should get the older s6 or the newer s6. I also wanted to know if there are big differences between the two. Should I also find one that is CPO?

If buying a used Audi definitely get the CPO.

The 2016 S6 looks much better than the earlier years, especially with black optics & sports package.

The newer S6 have a more advanced MMI, if that is important to you. The 2016 S6 can update NAV maps for free over the Audi Connect (I am not sure if this true for 2015).

Get the newer model. While I love my '13, it looks dated standing beside the 16's and up. Whichever one you get, lowest miles possible and CPO would be my recommendations.

I owned a 2013 and now have the c7.5 2016. There are some basic improvements as well as a boatload of features I have now that were not part of the 2013. Improvements in drivability are no throttle lag, no violent jerk after coming to a full stop are a couple. I loved both cars and upgraded because of the steep discount because it had 6500 miles on the Odometer and the additional options my 2013 did not have. Both cars brought/bring a smile to my face every time I got/get in them.

Gta7 what options did you get with your s6.

I wanted one with the B&O but they are hard to fine even for older and newer model.

    Goliath,

How do you like those B&O compared to the Bose? I like the B&O because of the raised Twitter.

Just and FYI! I may be missing a few but here is what I know. On paper 30 more horespower (however feels the same). New front bumper, rear bumper, rear valence, headlights, updated MMI, google earth between gauge cluster, USB ports in center arm rest, Alcantara inserts in doors (looks awesome imo). Black optics package (game changer to me) and sports exhaust (another great addition to the facelift). If you can afford it, go with a facelift.

    Hope this helps

The B&O system is outstanding, although the bass is still a bit lackluster. If you can find one, great- if not, even the standard sound system can be highly modified to get an incredible sound- you can go a bit overboard, as I did, and completely customize your system to sound as good (if not better) than the B&O for less than what the B&O option costs new. Otherwise, reasons to get the 2016- USB ports integrated with MMI, and the MMI can play .flac files (non-compresses lossless HD music files, which sound incredible compared to standard mp3 files), as well as the cosmetic differences already mentioned for the post-facelift cars. Definitely recommend a CPO car, and if you can find one, a car with transferable Audi Care as well (nice, but less important).

I came from a 2014 Plum Crazy Dodge Challenger SRT 8 with the 392 to a CPO 2014 S6 with 36k miles on the clock. For me this was a night and day difference from luxury to handling and looks. I've had the car for 7 months now and I've added 12k miles and I LOVE IT! I just recently changed the front brakes, had her tinted and changed the front grill. If money isn't a big deal, go for the newer version. Otherwise I have zero complaints from my 2014 and I doubt you would.

Facelift + warranty is a must. The little additions Audi made with the facelift are well worth it, especially the USB ports that were added.

Depends bit what is on your wishlist i think. The newer the better offcourse. In my case i went for second hand and sadely not many S6's availible (tons of RS6's but price difference was too big). Some facelift updates are indeed nice and handy, but depends how much it is worth for you (for me for instance, i almost never use NAV as i don't need it often, so no loss for me for instance). As some mentioned, CPO is very handy (but not sure how usefull it is if you plan to mod it?).
Anyway, since in my case there weren't that many, i picked older one but with my personal key features (ceramic breaks was one of them).

I've done many of the same Mods and between the slight exterior tweaks and the interior tech upgrades, definitely feels a bit outdated. Add to that the fact that a redesign is surely on the horizon, it makes no sense to me to get a pre-facelift model at this point unless you just really love the old design.

The differences between the pre FL and the FL are not massive, but I agree that the FL car looks fresher on the outside and that the FL car's MMI system is significantly faster.

Ultimately, newer is better and if you can comfortably afford the FL car and justify the higher price then that is the one to go for.

love the sound. Is it worth the thousands more? U be the judge. I had Bose in my 2013. B+O seems to have crisper tones and less distortion.

I picked up a 2013 S6 prestige this weekend. It only had 12,xxx miles. I paid $40.5. The aftermarket warranty was $3k so I passed on it. I assume I can always add the warranty later but not sure it is worth it. Thoughts?

I just bought a CPO 2015 S6 - Garnet Red, Black Optics, Cold Weather, B&O, etc etc. -- I got it for $47k which I thought was plenty fair considering 2013s without a warranty were going for low 40s.. I think the CPO (or any warranty) is a good idea for a used German car. Knowing that I have a warranty until 2020 (at which point I will most likely move into a different car) was really the icing on the cake.

I also EPL tuned it the same day I picked it up :) . Either way you really can't go wrong with either. I came from an SQ5 that was stage 2 and it just didn't do it for me. It didn't give me the driving, seat comfort, and handling I wanted. I'm much happier now. Like others have said, if you can swing the cash for the newest model, of course do so -- But don't think that a CPO 2013-2015 is "outdated." It most certainly is not in comparison to other cars.
2015 S6 - Garnet Red, Black Optics, EPL Stage 1 within hours of ownership. Just need an exhaust mod.

Financially speaking, I had to choose between a C7.5 with no mods or a C7 with mods. So I went with the 2013 and I love it! For what I spent on the mods, I could have gotten a 2015-2016, but I'm very happy with where my car is now!

Congrats! Highly recommend an aftermarket warranty given your car is now 4 yrs old. Expensive, but worth it compared to some of the potential repairs.

I didn't think it was worth it, but when I was spiritedly accelerated on to the highway this morning there was a loud thud and the car stopped accelerating for a second. The car now seems like it is "hesitating". So, I may call tomorrow and get coverage just in case there is some weird, costly issue.

    Post Buying used s6

New here and in the same boat as the OP. Looking into a C7 S6 to replace my current Chrysler 300S Hemi which started my V8 torque addiction.

Anyways, been narrowing my searches mainly to include 13-15' S6's under 45k miles. CPO would be nice, but would be happy with 6-12 months of factory warranty to get any issues resolved.

Been using Autotrader to research Carfax histories which is great to see if previous owner kept up with the Audi maintenance schedule and the following site to search window stickers to see if the cars are basic or well optioned.

    http://www.wikilender.com/audi-windo...i-vin-decoder/

So far my ideal build would be a 15' (added standard heads-up display and LED headlights) with Driver Confidence, Black Optics, Cold Weather, Black Headliner, Layered Wood or Carbon Atlas trim. Could get all the same options in a 14' if it has the Innovation Package so I'm open to that too if the price and miles are right. Color is my least concern since wrap or PlastiDip could take care of that.

Can you tell I'm OCD yet? 🤣 Probably spent 20+ hours browsing cars, reading review, watching videos and lurking forums so far this week and just getting started! ✌️

Just a feeler I might be interested in selling my 2013 Audi S6 CPO with almost every option, car listed for 85K and it only has12,500 miles. Car is black on Black, heads up display, night vision, comfort seating package, Prestige package, Driver assistance package, innovation package, Blind spot alert, LED headlamps, carbon fiber trim and I know I am forgetting some things. Car has had tasteful mods which include AWE Touring exhaust, Roc Euro intake, Deval carbon fiber rear diffuser, black Audi A6 grill conversion (looks stock but is black without the gray), HRE P40SC wheels in brushed Aluminum finish with Michellin Pilot SS tires. Car is mint and is under full CPO Warrany plus I purchased the extended platinum warranty. I would be in the mid $50's for the car. I also have ever stock part for the car as well.

I just want to see if there is any interest at this price point, if not I will just keep it.

    Thanks

    Over 50k on a 2013 Audi S6 seems a bit high.

I would strip it down to stock and make the price under 50K with the CPO warranty.
