Yeah, saved the log dump and cleared the faults. Car drives fine now. I have an appointment scheduled....in a month Hopefully they don't balk at me and tell me the car doesn't have any codes, so they can't help me. Honestly, this is pretty silly...a possible TCM fault at 6k miles!

Be prepared for it...unless you've got codes the dealer really can't do anything for troubleshooting, even if you do show them the VCDS scan. Hopefully it was just a hiccup. If not you've got a month to replicate it.

I lucked out...the day before I took the allroad in trans locked up on the way home. I didn't clear the codes this time. Dropped the car off and the dealer was unable to reproduce the problem, but based on the codes recommended the mechatronics unit to be replaced.

I thought that was a DSG only issue.

that's what i thought, but this is what the tech said:
"good afternoon, XX here with Audi.. the vehicle is going to need whats called a mechatronics unit basically the computer inside the transmission. it is covered however is going to take about 7-10 days to get here"

I asked if was basically the TCU and they said, "kind of yeah they term it differently and looks like a valve body inside the transmission"
