Any aftermarket hoods for this model?

I'm looking for something to help vent hot air and perhaps reduce weight a bit? I've searched all over and not found any for a 2005 cabrio.

Any aftermarket hoods for this model?

You haven’t searched and found B6 carbon hoods? Are you sure you searched at all? There are literally dozens of aftermarket hoods for this car. Hell, there is one posted for sale in the classifieds section of this forum.

    http://www.eurogearusa.com/hoods/pro...iber_hood.html

I typed “B6 vented hood” into google, and that’s the second link I found. The first one was a link to Audizine for the same good.

    Hope that helps.

I knew I'd get a response like this. Look at my picture closely and then look at the hoods in the link you sent. The cabrio hood is different from the sedan hood (insert eye roll)

Yep, grille isn't part of the hood on a cabrio.

You’re right, I’ll own that mistake. Sorry.

Ever though about buying a carbon hood and having a good body shop/ carbonsmith cut the grill portion of a B6 hood? It’d be beast to attempt with an old OEM hood first to ensure it’ll line up. Then use the template to do the carbon hood. All that would be needed is more epoxy, sanding, and clear coat to finish.

Eh, it's a nice to have but not a have to have. I'm not interested in custom fab. If I could find a VERY good body shop who could add vents I might consider it, but my experience is the people who say they're good at this actually suck and those that possess the quality skills to do this wouldn't bother with it. I'll just move on from this unicorn hunt.

    Good points.

Having said that, I’ll be adding vents to my B7 race car over the winter. If it turns out well, I’ll share the process.

Lol saw this one coming. I haven't seen any mass produced carbon hoods for the cabrio. Or any decent ones for that fact

I'd give it a whirl with some tin snips and a pipe wrench.... on a scrap hood for practice.... I imagine I could get some decent air flow/speed holes

I need one as well... Wonder how much it would be to have one from a scrap yard used, I can either A repaint, or b wrap it.

ok! cabrios are unique to any other model in the b6/b7 lineup because of there fenders and hoods. they where not mass produced like the sedans or avants. on the b6 cab model it was ahead of its time. the one piece bumper was unique. it was s4 quality at that time. the only other b6 model with a one piece bumper was the s4, the cabrio was more so set up like a b7 as far as front end goes. with the b7 cab you have options as far as bumper goes. the bumpers for all b7 models are interchangeable. for the b6 this is not so. now with cabrios they have slightly longer hoods, and fenders. and if you look closely the b6/b7 fenders on the cab have the same body lines. the cutout for the headlamps are different on the fenders and hood. so you are basically stuck with what you have or your going to custom fab something. i hope the gives you some clarity

I've got another straw for ya!

If you were in Southern California I'd say try giving http://trackspecmotorsports.com/ a call to see if you can bring your car by for them to work something up bespoke for this application. A more feasible option is taking some measurements from the underside of your hood and going with one of their universal kits. Maybe shoot them an email and ask for advice on placement as well.

Their vents are a neat product. Keeping the OEM hood and adding vents is beneficial because you have the OEM hood strength and fitment, which can both be concerns with aftermarket fiberglass/carbon hoods. Only downside is having to cut up your OEM hood but if you were considering going with a vented hood to begin with, this may not feel like such a big deal.

Keep this thread alive if you go that route, would love to see the results!
