    Transmission mount replacement approach

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Guys.

Next weekend my new transmission mounts for my B7 will arrive, it's 2.0T with tip trans.

I had a look today and been reading around here in AZ and I didn't find a diy but it looks like a straight forward job, I want someone have done this to correct me if the steps below are wrong.
I see there is a mention to use epoxy on the top bolt to hold it in place, not sure why? Why not to remove be bracket all together while supporting the transmission?

Here are the steps and I will be taking

Before staring the below I will support the transmission with a floor jack, piece of wood will be used.

Step 1 : undo those four

    Step 2:

    Step3:

Then replace the mount and put everything back.

    Will that work ?
    Comment please.
I want to get it done fast and right with no surprises.

    Thanks in advance.
    Don.

Ive never remove the bracket. Just unbolt the mount, jack underneath and slide the old out and new in.

The driver side looks easy but the passenger side looks like its more involved. Is dropping the frame necessary to get the passenger side mount out ?

I think he meant just step 3 the top bolt and remove the mount should slide right out.

Did you have a chance to complete the installation? I have to do this project as well....curious about the process....

Also, where did you get your transmission mounts? If you don't mind me asking....

    Thank you

    Not yet. :(

Those are genuine I got them from the dealer.
I learned my lesson with after market mounts , not worth it.

Well. To start with, personally I hate when I feel vibrations in the cabin, not too long time back I bought aftermarket engine mounts to replace my leaky ones, I got a kit from ecs (mounts, snub, hw and resistors), the mounts were HT Hamburg Technix, they are the worst, movement and vibrations gotten worse, I installed the snub mount that came with the kit hoping the movement will stop but actually I ended up having more vibrations because it's impossible to align the snub if your engine wiggles :)

So I ended up returning the mounts and bought OEM and the car is smooth.

Never used 034 but I will stick with OEM going forward when it comes to such important components, few $$ not worth it for 100% fitment and peace of mind.
