New to me 2013 S8 modding thread

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just wanted to start a thread on some simple mods I'll be doing to a 13' S8 which I just picked up. She has 45k miles and is shipping from Massachusetts to the Midwest.

2 days after it arrives to me I'll be getting the APR stage 1 tune, windows tinted and I just picked up some 2016 RS7 wheels. I'll most likely used the RS7 wheels for summer tires only and throw winters on the stock wheels.

I'm also going to get some wheel spacers from ECS tuning to make the wheels sit flush.

Here's how she sits now and the wheels I just bought.

Those wheels look very similar to Audi wheels. If it were mine, I would have located some OEM wheels.

Below is a picture of OEM Audi wheels. Compare that to what you want to put on.

So let me get this straight, you're getting rid of the 21" OE S8 wheels, and replacing with RS7 Blades? If so, PM me to chat about the disposal of your OE wheels. I may be interested.

Took delivery last night of the S8 & sold the RS7 wheels. The OEM S8 wheels are actually a nicer design after comparing them side by side. APR tune and window tint tomorrow.

Looks Nice! Daytona Grey is such a Nice color for the s8! I like the s8 5-spokes better aswell. I have Them as winter wheels. With they Will be so much more aggressive with spacers on. :) But congratulations with your new car

Congrats on the car and joining the S8 club. Looks good.

I suck at posting pics, otherwise, I'd post mine too.

The tune makes this thing an absolute monster. I picke dup my Milltek exhaust a couple months ago, and now it's hard to stay off the throttle.

As others have said, the APR stage 1 tune makes this thing a monster. Not much else to say. +90hp over claimed stock numbers on 93oct is a pretty nice jump. I'm going to try the 100oct tune at the track eventually.

Catback. Still thinking about the downpipes. In CA, I won't pass smog if I get them. So I would need to find someone to do a "special smog". And that's a pain in the ass.

Downpipes is easy to change Its a 4 hour job so i dont know How often you have smog test or What you Call Them But you could just change to Stock dp for the test. I have the apr downpipes with Stock catback i dont want drone or to loud exhaust. And with dp and ecu stage 2 it is a monster. Doing 1/4 on 10.9-11 sec on pump gas on the Road

Does it sound pretty good with the APR down pipes to stock exhaust? In stock form it's a pretty tame exhaust note.

I Think Its a Nice twist it growls under pressure But silenced when driving normal. But if you want exhaust nod all the time you Will need to Remove the muffler in the middle or find a sport exhaust from a s8 plus. My friend have full Miltek exhaust with only the rear mufflers on his rs6 C7 and it is CRAZY loud and alot of drone. It Dont suit a Car like the s8 imo

I could swap them out, but I have to get a smog check in CA every other year. Paying for uninstall and re-install every other year wouldn't become worth the time and money. If the Stage 2 added another 100 hp, that might be a good idea. But for 20-30hp? I'd rather have the peace of mind and save the hundreds of $$$ by not swapping out pipes. But we'll see...

I updated the MMI software as well as Navigation maps to 2016. Windows are tinted and I'm going to enable the green screen in the MMI to add a few more features and video in motion.

Stage 2 only got me about .1 in the 1/4. WTF. I probably wouldn't do it again if given a do-over. But I may have purchased the stage 2 file just to run at the track with the stock downpipes.

Yes. I went 10.94@126 in the winter (negative DA). Almost hit APR's number on the dot. But I've found the car to be very sensitive to heat and humidity. It would be tough to run in the 10s in August.
