S3 maintenance cost and parts price

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just would like to know about the maintenance and parts cost of S3. Since the parts are widely use between Golf R and TT, does that mean the parts will cost cheaper than other audi models? Also what's the average maintenance cost and what oil do you guys use for oil change.

Really want to pull the trigger this Sat on a S3, but gotta convince my wife that maintenance cost is no different than Lexus and Acura. Lol
    Thanks

factory oil filters are $8. You can get 6 quarts of decent VW/Audi approved oil for about $35. So you can DIY oil change for less than $50. If you go the dealership route, minor services are $100 to $150 in my area.

I haven't owned an Acura for a few years but I'd say that generally speaking the Audi is going to be more to maintain. Oil changes should be around the same price, but I'd recommend getting Audi Care to cover that for your first 4 years of maintenance (Approx $800). If something breaks on the car it most likely will be more expensive depending on what it is. It's not the parts that are that much more expensive, it's the labor because the Germans make these cars so well that it takes a bit longer to get stuff apart, etc. just my humble opinion. Good luck!

I've owned both Acura and Lexus. Lexus can't be beat on reliability, and Acura is very cheap to maintain. Audi scheduled maintenance is once per year, so the service costs more but it has fewer intervals. AudiCare will get you a set cost on maintenance for 4 years, and you can work it into the car purchase for a discount. A CPO vehicle should remove fear of breakdown costs in the future, and there are some great CPO S3 options out there. I find the service department to be very accommodating at Audi... similar to Lexus. Find the right car, add AudiCare, have plenty of warranty remaining and maintenance costs will be hard to prove one way or the other.

Really love the look and the performance of S3, but really afraid the cost afterwards will kill me. Lol but again you only live once, gotta enjoy it.

One more thing, my service experience at Audi dealers (recalls) has been inconsistent. Where as dealership service at Lexus has been uniformly excellent and competitive $ with independent shops. For out of pocket expenses, we take our Audi to specialized independent shops and Lexus to the local dealers.

most vw shops can do the work on audi, and usually a little cheaper. i think the only difference between the s3 and most cars is that the s3 will require dsg service.

I think it depends on your goals. If you are the DIY type, it'll likely be significantly cheaper to not go with audi care. If you plan on going forward with the dealer maintaining your vehicle, audi care could make a of sense as it saves you money over the long run. For my 2016 s3, my dealership wants ~$695 which covers the 15k, 25, 35k, 45k services. One of those includes the DSG flush which can be a considerable price as an al a carte item alone. I haven't looked into it fully yet, but will need to in the next few months.

~$700 for a package of 4 services with DSG flush is competitively priced. But the service dept at my nearest Audi dealership is subpar. Got my S3's paint scuffed up by careless technicians working in tight spaces.
