Does that writing go off the dash when you push the clutch in?

Thanks! First time trying to start this car, I've wired the two wires from the clutch pedal sensor together to test if it worked. but that writing was still on the screen when I did that so I don't know what else is going wrong. Not sure what else to try

I tried doing that to both sensors that are there but neither seemed to make the writing go away, correct me if I'm wrong but the clutch pedal sensor is the blue one?

Does that message stay there after you start the car? If not, then don't worry about it

Yes it's staying on. The car won't crank at all even if those wires are in contact with each other

What about the other components in the start circuit? The starter relays and then the starter itself?

I've just about replaced everything in that circuit due to an intermittent fault, which I suspect was a cracked and worn wire at the starter terminals. No point getting all that way and leaving a 10 year old starter in though.

Heres a more detailed description of the problem im having with pictures
Whenever i push the clutch down the display on the dash keeps telling me that the clutch needs to be pushed down. So now from what i read online it said the clutch switch is probably bad
So I tried to test each sensor by making both wires go in contact but the display on the dash still tells me to push the clutch down even after i did that.

Theres also a light that blinks on the dash when i have the key in the ignition but im not sure if that has anything to do with this.

If anyone can give me some insight on what else i can try or what the problem might be id really appreciate it

heres a picture of the light on the dash that blinks^

Pic of wires i spliced together(pic went sideways for some reason)^

One other thing that might have an effect on this is my key broke the other day so the fob isnt attached to the key anymore, but when i put it in the ignition i keep the fob right next to the key^

If the battery light is flashing I believe it may indicate a charging system problem. Is it a new battery?

No the battery I have is old but it holds a charge for a few hours. I had a battery charger on the car when I tried to start it
I don't hear anything from the starter or relays when I turn the key

It's not the battery light that's flashing it's the orange car icon with a key inside of it

Oh...that's the immobilizer. I'll have to defer to someone else on that issue because I have been fortunate enough to not run into it, but it may have something to do with the broken key.

From what I've read online the car should still start but it would stall out after a few seconds. But maybe it's different on these cars. I do have vag com if there's anyway I could use that to help diagnose something. I'm not to familiar with it though
But even if it was the immobilized wouldn't the text on the dash still go off on the cluster about the clutch being pressed?

I did swap engine harnesses if that might have anything to do with it. Maybe I didn't plug something in all the way on the ecu?
But I triple checked every connected to make sure it was plugged in all the way

I believe that text only goes away after you actually start the car, not after you simply press in the clutch, even though it seems like it should. The reason I cannot verify this right now for certain is that my engine is currently out of the car, haha. Major cylinder wall scoring so I'm swapping blocks.

Just the harness. I compared them before and they were exactly the same

Update: I do not believe it's a immobilizer problem. I think either the starters bad or I wired it incorrectly
I have power to the signal wire running to the starter when I turn the key. My connecter to the starter was broken so it wasn't making a good contact. I tested that by just running an led to that wire and the other end to a negative then turned the key and the led turned on with it.
So then I ran my own positive wire to the starter and I heard the solenoid engage but the large positive wire on the starter sounded like it was burning and some sparks fell from it. It didn't crank at all but the solenoid engaged. I tried this a few times with the same result

So can someone confirm that I wired it correctly, there's two thick positive wires down in that area. I have the larger wire on the starter with I believe a 13mm nut holding it and the smaller one on the alternator. Then I have the ground mounted next to the bell housing on the starter then to the mounting point on the frame.
I double checked it and there's nothing I can see causing it to short circuit. The only thing I can think of is that the starters bad and something inside is making it short circuit

Found the problem. Got the starter taken off and the wire that connects the solenioid to the main motor was completely corroded. I pulled it apart with my hand. so looks like I'll have to get a new one. Might just make my own temporary wire for that spot for now
