does it work? has anyone done this? i need to out my intake mani and throttle body but dont have a vagcom.

    Manual throttle body adaptation:

"The Throttle is "Drive By Wire" and adapts to your particular driving style. Do a TBA Throttle body adaption).

    1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.

    2. Turn the key to the on position, the position just before the starter turns over.

    3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.

    4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off" position(don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

    5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment. During this time you may hear very faint noises and clicks. I
only heard one sitting in my car, if I got out and popped the hood I might hear more.

    6. Drive the car as you always do.

Depending on your driving style, this may or may not be a big factor. I do a lot of city driving so
I noticed a big change after erasing my history. It is not hard to do this, just follow the
instructions - Key on, pedal down, 5 sec, key off pedal up, wait 2 minutes.

Keep the key in for the entire thing. "

Disconnecting the battery for the amount of time necessary to do the work will do the same thing. After you put everything back together, reconnect the battery then turn the key to on, but don't start it. You'll hear a series of clicks. When you stop hearing them, the TBA is complete.

Read before this only resets it to it's previous setting. You need software to do a full adaption vs a reset to previous setting. Never confirmed this Interwebz tale before, though.

From what I have always known with the b6/7 is it resets the throttle body adaptation so it will learn your habits again. It does work and it will feel a little more snappy. Then it will start adapting again to your driving habits. Yes you can do it vag com. Is it different, I don't think so but then again my experience is with the b7 and 05 b6. I do know all 3 ways works for me and it seems the same.
What ever makes sense go with the opposite and you got it

I haven't done this in years but I believe it does actually work. You can do it through software but the manual way should be just fine.
