EPC light came on while driving, car went limp, and will not start.

I was driving the other day, not too far, and not too hard, and the EPC light came on, and the car started gearing down, and would not respond to my foot on the throttle.

It has been just a little over 5k miles since my last oil change, (still within the life of the oil and filter. I normally use high quality synthetic) and I've noticed that it's been a little louder at idle for the last 100 or so miles. A different kind of ticking than your normal 2.0t engine idle. From what I've read, it sounds like the valves are being a little loud, which sounds indicitave of sludge.

My question is, what the hell is going on? Any info would be fantastic. Thanks in advance guys.

What could the throttle body have to do with it? What could be wrong?

Have you tried using any diagnostic tools? I recently got a veepeak obd2 scanner. I would recommend getting one. You can buy if off amazon. It connects via wifi. The app i use costed $9.99.

That's what I thought too. I don't know what's going on. I'm taking it into a shop today or tomorrow to figure it out. If anyone else has any info, that would be awesome.

I'm experiencing the same thing. About 2 days ago it happened and I parked it at home. I cycled the parking break on and off. Let the car sit for some minutes, turned on the car. I left it idling and light went off. Today, the light came back on and went into limp mode.
