2017 Q7 Black Optic Wheel Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I recently purchased a 2017 Q7 with the black optic package. It includes 21 inch wheels but I live in Chicago. I either need to buy a whole new wheel package at 20 inches or plus 20 inch all season tires or keep my 21 inch tires and change tires each season. I'm not much of a car guy but I'm looking for any advice on the pros and cons.

I'm about to buy a used Q7, and coming from a car guy I truly feel these cars need 21 - 22" wheels to look nice.

The only thing holding me back from buying one is the 'tire eating' problem, and the fact I want a S-Line which come with 21" wheels (super expensive for rummber). It seems most people end up buying 22" wheels for this problem, as they are cheaper to replace rubber, as well it seems most people run 18" winter wheels to help combat against the tire cost and keep their new wheels from any salt/winter damage.

I know from my Avant, the best tires I have ever got are the DSW Conteintial tires, and I believe they now make them for the 21" wheels. Lots of audi guys and shops swear by them.

The new ones are a lot lighter right? I'd imagine they would not be as bad on tires as the older heavier beasts (that I'm looking at).

Run 295/40/21 all seasons. Lots of people have switched with no issues.

We have a '17 with BOP we ended up buying a set of Prestige 20" wheels and my wife liked them so much we sold the BOP 21" wheels. I would have preferred to keep them but it's the wife's car.

Do you think the difference in look is noticeable? I'm leaning toward doing the same

We actually really like the Prestige wheels. The colors work very well with our ink blue Q7.

Trust me I would never have let her sell them if it didn't look good.

I have a 2017 BOP in Minnesota so I bought an identical set of 21" wheels to use Pirelli Scorpion Winter 285/40-21 in the winter and run Goodyear eagle F1 in the summer. The car looks and handles great in both winter and summer.

So if you didnt want to get an extra set of tires for the winter, what all season tires did you guys go with? Heard issues with the 295 40 21s
