    2012 S4, Bluetooth and Music

    Hello,

Glad to be part of the community!

Just got a 2012 S4 Premium + and was wondering if I can play music from my Samsung via Bluetooth?
Or, will I need to purchase adapter?
If adapter is only option, recommendations?

On a 2012, no. Streaming audio wasn't added until 2013 mmi updates.

Some have had luck with bovee viseo, but mine crapped out after a few months. I'm currently testing out some cheap Amazon cables and just running my android hard wired in the glove box.

No Bluetooth through mmi on the B8's. I bought the adapter from Audi that plugs inside the glove box and it constantly loses connection. Not to mention you have to keep the phone inside the glove box. I have heard of a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into same port inside glove box that works well. I can't recall the company that makes it.

I'm using a Carpro attached to the port in the glove box. It works great through the Bluetooth just no song read out on mmi.

I've got a blue tooth dongle that I can sell to you if you're interested. It works just fine, but I don't use it like I thought I would. PM if you're interested.

I have a 2012 and was disappointed with the Bluetooth adapter option. I purchased this one from Amazon, and I had trouble getting it to consistently connect to my phone. Rather than try other adapters, I decided to upgrade to the newer version. I bought the components used off of eBay, spent around $500 after getting component protection removed at the dealer. Yes it's no comparison to the price of an adapter, but it's well worth it to me. YMMV. Here are some threads if you are interested.

Also, I highly recommend looking at the upgraded steering wheel from fly designs on eBay.

These are the first two mods I did to my 2012, very happy with both.

I have a tune2air in my 2011 and it works just fine with iPhone 7 or non iPhones. It had a skipping issue with the iPhone 6. this is what i have for my 2011. https://www.amazon.com/Bovee-Wireles...=tune2air+audi. Just pug it into the cable in the glove box. Make sure you get one with the correct connector

I use the Tune2Air 3000 in my 2012 as well and absolutely love it. No issues here and I've been using it for over a year now. It connects to my phone instantly and the music starts to play the second the car turns on. It retains full use of your factory controls (steering wheel and center console buttons) and it shows complete song info on the MMI screen (title, artist, album, etc). Don't waste your time with other options.

+1 for Tune2Air. Works well on my iPhone 6s shouldn't be a problem with your Samsung. It's certainly not perfect but functions well 95% of the time. Had more issues when I first installed it but they seemed to have worked themselves out over time

I have a 2012 and I have 2 different methods. The Tune2air works fine but I also have a USB plug. My issues were that sometimes one or the other wouldn’t work. If I was using the Tune2air sometimes I would have issues with phone connectivity. With the usb if my phone was under 40% battery, it wouldn’t connect. When I updated my phone to iOS 11, none of adapters would work. I changed the input in the MMI to AUX input via green screen. Now I can use what ever adapter I want without any issues. I only use the usb connection now because even the sounds is better. Only drawback is I have to skip music via the phone which is fine.

Here is a bit more descriptive thread about what I did.

Hi. Where does the tune2air plug into? Do I have to pull the stereo out?

Yup, look inside your glovebox for the connector.

Tune2Air works well but it does have its flaws. Whenever I shuffle on my iPod and try to switch songs using the MMI controls, there is a 5 second delay. Not a huge fan of wireless, I just wish my 2011 had the modern Lightning connector in the center console glove box.

I am using Carpro as well but actually do get the song readout though. I can't change songs though unless using the phone though.

Agree with Deez, I bought the same module from another member here and it pairs great and does exactly what I want it to do via bluetooth.
