    3.0t Headers Anyone?

I poke around the B8 S4 forum seeing how the 3.0t party is much stronger in there...anyways, these headers are now all the rage. Wonder if they would be direct for to the C7?

I got mine. Not installing any time soon, but I'll report back as soon as I do.

I swear you're always getting my next mods lol.

Would love to know how loud they are and if they actually pick up 30whp.

    How's the ported SC btw?

Ported blower is well worth it. It adds power everywhere. Feels the same as going from 180mm crank pulley to 194mm.

As for the headers, I'm not expecting much gain. Everyone pretty much bought them as cat blowout preventative maintenance. Test pipes used to be the cheapest solution, but for $365, why not get headers.

I would like to install cats farther down, do these meet the downpipes, replacing cats?

So i would need to get HFCs in my AWE downpipes, and then lengthen the O2 harness.

I have ran test pipes before and not a fan, also still needs to pass inspection OBD at minimum.

    These are on my list.

I know some guys are thinking of installing cats either on the header or at the DP. A few people have reported passing OBD smog using O2 simulators.

I only plan on using the headers for the fall/spring race season. If I fail smog, I'll remove them and get rid of them.

Crown motorsports has a set of catted test pipes coming out soon.

Isn't the install for these pretty pricey ?

From my understanding it is easiest to pull the motor/subframe. You can install in the car but at that point your time will be more than drop and install.

There are no substantial gains and the install alone is not worth it. You are better off getting light weight wheels for the price of the headers + install.

Do you know this from using headers on a 3.0t? Supposed to be good for 30whp.

No one knows for sure on hp gains. The cheap knock off headers got popular because they're cheaper than test pipes. Some 3.0T guys running more than stage 2 started blowing cats, so this is was a cheaper version than replacing oem cats if you're out of warranty.

IMHO, if your cats are healthy, than headers or test pipes should be the last mod on your list. I bought them just in case my cats go out.

I am used to the DP already. I haven't got a chance to run logs as I am not sure how much more can be squeezed out of the tune.
I think I may have to bite the bullet and upgrade to a S Model; 4.0T.

I've thought about an upgrade as well in the near future. It would have to be an RS7 or an S8. An S7 or S6 wouldn't be enough...

Same feeling here, S8 is what I favor. Not a big enough difference otherwise imho.

I just need to convince the wife...

I'm late to the party, but did you end up installing them? Interested in the turn out, and if you got a after video of the sound note.

Got mine in and started install I can confirm it can be done with the engine in the car, however and huge however if you can afford to have someone do it or if you can drop the motor it is way faster having the motor out. If you do the install with the motor in you should first have a support bar, pull both motor mounts then drop the tranny mount it simple from there just make sure you have a few swivels and a bunch of extensions for 1/4 and 3/8 and I would advise a good 12 point set mainly a 12 for the exhaust nuts

Ok so I finally got both installed and I can say it's a long and annoying process, I installed the driver side first due to space constraints after installing the driver side I did not have enough space to install the passenger side so i had to lower the crossmember thankfully it does not need to be removed just lowering it down is good enough, along with that on the driver side the steering column will need to be disconnected and moved up thankfully its collapsible so just side it in and throw in the header also your going to want to remove most of the guard around the axles and the passenger side on that covers one of the combination values

From what I've read , and I'm in the same boat deciding on headers vs test pipes, this may answer some questions on gains: 30 WHP or approximately 38 crank.

Dyno Data EuroCode Tuning Long Tube Headers (only mod) vs 100% stock S4 (same day, same dyno) 30.2 WHP gain/23.2 WTQ gain (with noticeable horsepower/torque gains throughout the entire RPM range)

I was just reading the thread and it’s funny. I bought these headers about 2 years ago knowing full well what they where made for. And no I don’t have a 3.0t, I have a b6 a4 with the 3.0 and just a bit of adjustment to the tail end of the headers I made them work. Definitely changed the way it sounded, but I don’t know about hp gains yet. I have yet to get it tuned and dynoed. The biggest downside was the cost. 500 for headers—awesome. 200 for getting them adjusted and all the pain of installation… on top of that I had to get a full exhaust custom made because the original was junked by the previous owner. Very mixed emotions. Not as raspy so that was good and surprising.
