EMUSA K04 turbos? Are they worth it? Has anyone had any luck

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello I have a b5 s4 I haven't had it long bought it and turbos went a month later at 150 mph lol..needless to say I'm putting K04s on it and I see the EMUSA brand and they are cheap but I'm just wondering if they will hold up. I know they will eventually go....especially with the tune that's on it lol it runs like a raped ape..but a year or two out of them would be alright for me...thanks

There was some general online retailer that has the best price on OEM k04's, cant remember their name, maybe someone else can chime in, they were listed as a "performance upgrade"

People have had success with ebay turbos, if they rebuild them with better internals before swapping them in. Cheap option, but I would not just throw ebay turbos in without some type of quality control. That is what you are essentially paying for with FT and such, with Chinese parts placed through QC.

You will regret putting those on. I would never put $400 turbos on my car because its getto. But if you insist, it looks like amazon sells them also for ~500 and you get a warranty for 365 days

You can also try a quick google search to see what other people are saying as it has been discussed in several other forums: LINK

"just as good"? I feel like disappointment is in your immediate future if you believe that.

A year? maybe, 5 minutes also just as likely, I had an almost new set of no name ebay turbos on mine when i bought the engine and it made a hell of a dentist drill noise. Replaced the chra with a spare same noise. Turns out the cold side housing was making contact becuase the tolerances where not checked. Got new cold sides and new bw chra's. Moral of the story save your money, if you saved 500 you can save 1200 and that will buy you a good set if you dont mind finding a used set and picking up new chra's i think the best price for a set I've seen is 900.
Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

That is the Robles now a days with this came. Let's throw the cheapest stuff on it, then bitch and complain that these cars are junk. Putting new turbos on this car requires more than just turbos. Double what you think you want to spend... actually tripplenit since your budget is so slow. I like how you want to got for the top turbo, 770's. You do realize that you will have to spend $15k to build the car along with those... right? Let's just slap them on and see how they do.... this right here folks is why these cars are so cheap...

Hey now, it only cost me like 8k to build mine . I haven't even bought the new turbo or injectors yet.

Just to clarify for those not in the know, there is no use installing anything larger than K04s unless you are doing internals. 770s would be wasted on a stock block.

A lot of us are realistic about our expectations. These aren't dsm's or raggedy honda's with a turbo slapped to them. Ebay parts won't get you into the 10s. In fact, whatever times those eBay parts carry you to won't be the main issue. The main issue will be life expectancy. These cars in particular have had a horrible history with cheap turbos dying within days/minutes. I've even read stories of brand new ones never producing boost even once, and a few who have the turbo whine that usually precedes turbo failures.

Some people here are going to make rude comments because we've seen many others just like you come and ask these questions. Very rarely do these threads ever produce a build, and the few that do end up regretting the ebay turbo.

The question you asked "MUSA K04 turbos? Are they worth it?" begs to be answered with an opinion, which looks to be what others are giving you (I didn't read all the responses though).

My opinion, not worth it based on little to no reliable feedback on the product.

Time and time again, year after year, I see the same thing were people try to be as cheap as possible... I get it... But on these cars, you will not get away with cheap. They will turn around and bite you and leave you pissed off. That is why these cars get a bad name. They are cheap, so people think they will be cheap to mod/maintain, which is very far from the truth. I barely drive my car anymore and it still costs me a lot to up-keep.

Don't forget that you will need another $1-2K after the turbos for all the other broken stuff or one-time-use parts that you will need to replace.

    Its just not buying turbos.
