Saw this kit on ECS (https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assemble...e-kit/2332kt7/) that seemed like a good deal.
Doing the first oil change soon, wanna make sure I'm putting in the best oil for my B8.5
Mann or OEM Audi should be fine for the filter right? Also do people change the oil drain plug every oil change?

Check with the dealer in your area which oil they recommend 5W30 or 40. Mostly gonna be 40.
Filter Mann is good, I use it always. And the drain plug is recommended to replace and it's really cheap but still you can reuse it once in my opinion.
What's matter is the crush washer have to be New.

I've always used Penzoil Full synthetic 5w30. And oil filter not that picky honetsly usually bosch premium, they didn't have it this time so I went with Castrol premium oil filter. The drain plug I've never heard about replacing it every oil change. I've never replaced mine, doesn't leak, does its job to drain the oil.... Idk why you'd need to replace it?

Drain plug cost is below $2 , why not to replace it and be sure you will not have a leak.

I have always used Mobile 1 5w30 but I would recommend any full synthetic oil for any car. Last time I changed the drain plug was when I changed the oil pan itself other than that if it's not leaking I am cool with ir

Any reason you guys don't use a vacuum to remove the oil? I'm coming from the Benz world where the recommended method to remove the oil is through the dipstick... Are there parts of the pan that would hold oil with this method?

I have never used a vacuum system to change oil but have recently started thinking about buying and trying one. The convenience is attractive to me but honestly I would probably still drop the drain plug every other oil change. Call me old school.... Oh and when I do change oil I use Mobil 1 0-40 and a Mann filter every 5000 miles.

I recently got a Mityvac to change the oil in my Q5 2.0T and it works well. Saves me time and seems to get most if not all the oil out. I also vacuum out whatever oil is left where the oil filter goes before replacing it. I've used Mobil 1 0w-40 European Formula, and German made Castrol Edge 0w-40 European Formula, both with LiquiMoly MOS2 additive and have had good luck with both. Always use OEM filters.

My next oil change I plan on putting in that new Molygen oil that's being advertised by ECS, the one that's green and glows under a black light for ease of finding leaks. I will also be installing a Mann filter for the change.
