    Safety Recall 20Z8 – Fuel Pump Flange – 2013-2017 Audi Q5 & Q7

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Was at the dealer today and spoke to my service guy about scheduling an appt to take care of the Rear curtain airbag canister recall and he mentioned there is another new recall that is going to come out. Fuel pump flange, but notices have not gone out because there is a backorder on the needed part.
    More info here:

I told my guy to call me once they get their hands on some.

Thanks for this insight! I'll make sure my lady takes hers in ASAP after they have parts!

Agreed. We'd think Audi would have all issues ironed out especially with gen 1 Q5/SQ5. Why are these recalls popping up now? They must be cutting corners and scaling back on quality of parts.

Does this apply to both the 2.0T and 3.0T engines or which one?

Knowing that would help a lot of people.

Does anyone know if this is the low pressure fuel pump in the tank, which may be common to both engines, or the high pressure direct injection pump in the engine bay, which is likely to be different for the turbo and supercharged engines?

Does the recall involve both engines?

For those following this thread my '17 3.0T IS included in the recall. I do not know if the recall includes the 2.0T engines. I'd still like to know that, and which pump is involved.

Looks like it involves 2.0T engines as my lady's Q5 shows this when entering the VIN. Hope this helps!

So I just had my 35k service last week for my '16 SQ5, the SA said they're still waiting for the parts to come in for fuel pump flange recall. Looking back, I wonder if he meant the actual fuel pump or the protective film. Should it take this long to get a film?

Since we have the recall on a sample of both the 3.0T and 2.0T this suggests that it is the low pressure pump in the fuel tank.

That's a very good point. In the aftermath of Dieselgate, I suspect all VAG models will be made as cheaply as possible. Think I'll not buy another one for a few years.

Haha. MY13-17 Q5 and MY13-15 Q7 are affected. Letters will be going out soon and the repair should be available by the end of the month. Q7s don't have to wait.

This recall affects Q5 and Q7 models dating back to before the TDI issue, so I do not believe the two are related in anyway. 2013-2017 Q5, both 2.0L and 3.0L engines, and 2013-2015 3.0L

Both my 2010 Q5 3.2 and 2011 Q5 2.0t are effected by this. The overhead canister was JUST for the 2.0t though.

Both cars are 110k plus, so might be seeing if they need a new fuel pump altogether or if it's just the flange.

i was, and then AudiWorld went away... things started to fizzle quick, after that. most have just gone to Facebook car groups or bought a reasonable family hauler.

@parkcityxj would be the guy to message about everything

ACNA-Utah is non-existent. It needs to be resurrected. All the local action is early 20 somethings from FB groups who are more concerned with the scene and hanging out rather than performance driving.

Just received my letter today but had a question. It said it impacts 2013 - 2017 Q5's and mine is a 2017, purchased it in Dec 2016. It says the issue is that the fuel pump flange may develop fine cracks or fissures, which can result in a fuel leak. The letter also says they will inspect for cracks, , leaks, yellow discoloration and if present will replace the fuel pump flange. Since it's been only about 6 months since I've owned my vehicle what will the dealership do since it probably has not been long enough for the flange to develop any fissures or fine cracks. If they see no defects when I take it in and my Q5 ends up developing problems, lets say in 2 or 3 years, will Audi still address the issue at that time? Or once I take it in for the recall will any future issues I may have with the fuel flange will be on my nickel. Thanks

Service mangler said they have been applying a self adhesive seal type kit on inspected cars and he hasn't done many pump replacements. Said he can do mine next visit but not a concern on a 2016. Only a couple older models in the recall range have shown cracks at their shop.

Does that mean that the cracks will show up in a couple more years, even if the butyl seal is installed?

I can't say for certain. My assumption is the seal makes the cracking irrelevant as it prevents any leaks regardless.
He said they apply it from within the car in the rear hatch area and don't need to drop the tank or anything. Takes about an hour as I recall.

For reference, my 2014 is having the flange replaced as we speak. But they don't have the part, so we will see how long this actually takes.

MY Q is due for 25k service and they claim to have this part in stock. Where is this pump located?

Brought the wife's Q7 in on 7/20. Inspected and placed film, no replacement of flange needed. 2013 Q7 Prestige S-Line with 54K.

I just bought a brand new leftover 2017 SQ5 this past Saturday. The sales manager mentioned they weren't able to sell it for the past nine weeks until they got the parts for the recall. I didn't even know there was a recall as I initially only planned to look at an '18 Q5.

Also didn't ask if they just wrapped it or replaced the flange since it was a brand new vehicle . . . but its done. No worries.

Had 10k service done earlier today. Dealer replaced the pump flange and also the two grommets holding the rear bench down. They easily crack when you yank the cushion straight up to access the panel to the tank.

They also performed the airbag canister recall and applied the coating. Didn't need replacing. They did not have to pry apart the entire trim. Just enough to reach in there to inspect and coat. Didn't scratch a thing and so far no rattles.

So glad the recalls are completed for now.

Took mine in today. They said they found no cracks and just applied the seal that everyone is talking about.

Apparently. With a flashlight and crouching down I can see the gas tank fuel pump lid underneath the rear bench on the passenger side. The pump is directly underneath the lid after the rear seats are removed.
