2012 A6 C7 Front Wheel Bearings and Brakes DIY

This is how I did it, sorry not many pictures:

Important - loosen wheel bolt cover and loosen Axle Bolt 19mm ***CAUTION*** Axle grease will leak out of bolt hole, so keep it in there at all times and reinsert it as fast as you can after putting new bearing

    Remove:
    5 - Wheel bolts - 17mm
    2 - Caliper bolts - 21mm
    1 - Rotor bolt - #(update later) torx
4 - Remove Bearing bolts - 12mm(10mm maybe) triple square
1 - Sensor bolt - 5mm hex (not really necessary to remove, just to be on a safe side)

At this point your bearing maybe rusted and stuck pretty good. I rented sliding hammer tool from advance auto parts Part No. 648611

at first it didnt help at all so i used chisel and sledge hammer

However, I found it easier on the other hub:
    1. loosen hub bolt
    2. use claw looking thing to screw 3 wheel bolts to wheel part of the hub. Using slide hammer remove wheel holding part
    3. use claw looking thing to screw 2 hub bearing bolts to hub bearing from outside where you just removed above part. Using slide hammer remove it - it may take some time

Install in reverse. Here is video to help you, big thanks to Felek

Here is my old bearing and then new:

Certainly looks easier than the B5 S4... That's for sure.

Way easier as it's a unbolt situation vs pulling the whole upright to press out the bearing. Even if you used a hub tamer, you need to pull the axle. This is much easier but also at minimum 2x the cost as you need the assembly rather than just a bearing. The guy in the video used an eBay seller for his bearing. Personally, I'd only use OE for these as they are nearly guaranteed to last longer due to more stringent quality control.
Do it right, or don't bother.

I'll take 2x the cost for a much less labor-intensive process. Agreed on the OEM route for bearings. *** has also proven to be a good brand in the B5 chassis.

sorry guys didnt see earlier, something is wrong with my "instant notification" option. The process is really easy, nothing hard and can be done at home without a worry. I think i might have to do same procedure on rear bearings too. I'm not sure OEM quality applies to this part, i've read several post where these OEM hubs were bad even at 50K miles. Some OEM parts dont justify the cost. Considering oem price plus headache of finding press and driving back and forth, I opted for complete assembly. So far so good
