Non-oxygenated Premium is all I can get!

I live in MN and for some reason all the gas stations in my town only carry non-oxy premium! Not only is it more expensive, I have APR stage 1 so I know it's expecting the standard stuff. I'm just curious if anyone knows if it's going to cause problems down the road if I run this... sure it's still rated to 91, but I would guess without a bunch of added detergents and stuff.

The octane rating is the most critical when running tuned ECU's.
The "cleaners" and detergents within blended gasoline are just added bonus and used for a sales pitch.
To ensure there's no problems, would recommend running a proper set of colder rated spark plugs so you don't have any auto-ignition problems.

Hello from another MN guy!! Where about are you that you can only find 91non oxy??? Non oxy gas is usually used for small engines that only get used once and while or for vehicles that were never intended to run on Ethanol like snowmobiles or older cars. Non oxy mean non oxygenated. It's ethanol free which can be a good thing depending on how you look at it. Ethanol actually helps reduce knock, but is also very corrosive.

I'm sure all tuners use regular oxygenated gas when they tune stuff meaning they are accounting for the ethanol content due to the federal mandate of having ethanol in fuel. Very very few places will you find ethanol free gas that is oxygenated.

So to answer your question on running non oxy, it could actually reduce performance due to the ethanol content not being there to aid in reducing knock, your best bet would be to contact APR and ask them if they use ethanol free gas when tuning or not. But if it's all you have where your at, at most you may only see reduced performance. The ecu will do it's job with knock with or without a tune and pull timing ect due to whatever gas you put in.

I'm in Big Lake, it's just a fluke that all the gas stations around here have non-oxy, I might just drive a few more miles and get the standard premium and keep the non-oxy in the motorcycles. I don't haven any issues with knocking and I haven't really noticed any difference in performance, but it's probably too slight for my butt dyno to pick up. Thanks for the info dudes

Nice I'm over in big lake here and there, got a couple buddies that live down there, maybe I'll see ya around sometime, I'm up in Forest lake area. But ya you shouldn't have a problem with non oxy, just sucks having to pay the extra 10c on top of premium.
