I actually bought that very same converter- as all as the one input to two output filter as well. They both failed. I ended up replace the factory 8" sub with a 12" sub in the same spot- (I cut the hole bigger.). Because I replaced the sub, I also replaced the rear door speakers, by doing this my sound quality is just leagues above the old Audi stock system. I also replaced my head unit which only powers my front speakers. My line from head unit for my remote to amp now remotes the amp and the amp powers sub, and rear. I ended up re-running all new 16 gauge speaker lines to the rear speakers from the amp, I actually ran all my lines under the interior peices of the car, and I actually took the rear door panels off and ran the wire through the boot between the cabin and the actual door. Im not going to lie- it was a PITA. Im making it sound simple, but in order to do this, I had to remove the center interior piece that blocks access to that boot, and in order to get that piece out of the way, a few other pieces have to be removed. I tried everything that you are doing and failed after hours and hours of guessing and trying to figure it out. But Im actually more happy I did it this way because of the sound quality I have now.
I should also note that even though that I replaced the whole sound system, you can not see the sub, or amp, or wires, I pretty much started by stripping the whole back end of the cars interior off including trunks- and bolted the amp in the right hand side of the wheelwell crevice, under the trunk liner, and the subwoofer I fabricated into the same hole Audi put the factory one. I'm pretty proud that mine looks stock yet has great and clear aftermarket sound quality W/O sacrificing a huge 1" sq. FT box in the trunk taking up space with wires running everywhere.
