    Thermostat, 80000km or 49k miles. Thats about it though and now I am at 107km or 66k miles. 2011 6MT.

    2010 with 65k. the infamous t-stat/water pump plastic impeller issue. was replaced under warranty in 2012, @24k mi. It caused a minor inconvenience - driving a few miles with the heat on high/defrosters on in 95 degree heat while en route to the dealership. Have not had an issue since, stage 2 tuned since 58k mi.

    Slave cylinder went out at 22k miles. Clutch pedal was pretty much stuck to the ground. Covered under warranty though :)

    Serpentine (alternator) belt went at around 100000km
    Clutch slave was starting to go around the same time.

    T-stat at 31k miles, just out of warranty by 2 months in early 2016.

    Broke down 3 times, but the car has always made it home. T-stat, clutch, throttle body failure. 90k-118k

    T-Stat at 30k miles. Just about 2 weeks ago. $1500 fix! Ouch. 2010 DSG

    Seems common... Is that about the correct charge? The SA basically told me the T-Stat is under the Supercharger and it took them a solid day to get it done.

    My 2010 left me stranded on the side of the road twice. First when the plastic WP took a dump and about 6 months later when road debris punctured the IC radiator. Metal WP and DIY protector screen have prevented the same issues from recurring. Just waiting for the T stat to go now.

    50K - Thermostat (warranty)
    50K - Water Pump (warranty)
    60K - Wheel bearing (warranty)
    101K- Intake Manifold runner ($1600 repair, didn't have time to do it myself)
    117k- Hard coolant line on front of motor, Thermostat, Supercharger bleeder screws. ($2200 if dealer did it, $200 for the DIY)

    S5 here, 0 break down with 57K miles, guess B8.5 has many problems corrected.

    They superseded the parts from the B8 to the B8.5.

    The original (B8) water pump was plastic and recall/warranty put in an aluminum/cast one. Thermostat was designed. Similar, but more efficient.

    14 with 15k miles and my pump was leaking slightly. 20k miles and plastic front coolant pipe had a small leak also.

    that price is high. a good tech with knowledge, skills, tools etc should be able to do that job in under 4hours, I know the bookrate is something stupid like 6-7 hours, but it is not a full day job.

    I paid $900 at the dealership after going back and forth, they wanted $1300 originally and i told them to pound sand.

    Is OP asking if the car's ever had an issue? Or if it's left you stranded? Those are two very different questions.

    Bummer! They did actually give me 10% off the $1500 quote.... but still.

    If the car has been totally disabled. It would be useful to see what pre-emptive repairs might be smart, as mileage gets higher. Especially before an extended road trip. So far, old water pumps are prime suspects. I think most of the bad bad thermostats have been replaced already.

    this is why dealerships get so much hate is because they use questionable tactics to charge high rates, and most people acquiesce out of convenience or fear.

    My waterpump started leaking at 65,000 miles and was replaced. Never has left me stranded though, am currently at 73,000 miles.
