I bought a B5 S4 (a rare one!) and I'm now in love

Hello all,

I recently purchased a car I never expected owning. With the maintenance reputation and the stain of an abundance of shitty Silver B5 S4s in CT. I just never imagined it. Then it popped up, the one that caught my eye and stood out from all the rest. I've always been a sedan person but I've been recently converted to the wagons by my best friend. My daily before was a 2006 Brilliant Red A4 Sedan Quattro, so I started looking at B7 S4 Avants and B8 A4 Avants. The B7 S4 Avant is great with the V8 but so damn hard to find a proper 6MT /Avant version. The B8 A4 Avant is nice and all with its newer technology but the 2.0T lacks in the everything department. So I didn't really know what to get. Until I bought this on my birthday this year as a treat to me.

2001 Cactus Green B5 S4 Avant 6MT

It probably looks familiar to some of you guys since it was GramCrackers car. I will take care of it and keep its clean sleeper look that all B5 S4 Avants should have. Obviously K04s at some point in the future.

Not a big fan of them either but I don't hate them. I'm going to be purchasing new caps at some point. Stuck between Black/Silver or Carbon Fiber/Silver caps.

Are you sure there is not laminate film on them? I had ordered a set of silver/black center caps from BFI a while ago and I thought the same thing. Scratched beyond belief. Upon closer inspection, there is a clear film over the caps to keep them pristine.

I got mine from bfi. Paid 74 shipped if I remember right. They just drop ship from bbs either way. Just make sure you inspect them on arrival as mine were horrible scratched and I ended up just polishing them out.

Beautiful car, take good care of her. Pictures do that color an injustice. Cactus green makes for great parking lot nite shots, really makes the pearl metallic come out.

Not the answer you all want to hear. I was driving home from work over a year ago, minding my own business, and a 16 year old driver mistook the gas for the brake and launched the car into the road. I was the lucky one who happened to be there that day. The frame was bent and the car is totalled. I still have it, it just sits at my buddies house.

Wow, sorry to see. I've been driving my not-so-rare Brilliant Black Sedan for almost 14 years now, never had an accident, lots of close calls, but always diligent to drive defensively/aggressively to avoid anything. Some guy at Costco gas the other day was asking me if it was twin turbo, and how many miles she had, and how long I had been driving her. He correlated 14 years to being the majority of miles. And complimented me on how clean she was. Guy probably wanted to see if he could buy it, but when I told him she has over 180k and was my daily he didn't.

I took the tail lights out, so I put those there to keep water out.

That really sucks, cactua is an awesome color and although im not a big fan of avants i can appreciate a rare car. Hopefully it can be resurrected soon
