All you need to do is use a plastic trim removal tool to wedge the tabs on the sides then top. I did it from the front side but you can probably also do it from the back by removing the bonnet latch and plastic tray.

Here’s a photo of them from the back where you can see the tabs. Earlier models had a torx screw holding them on. IMG_4911.jpg

Congratulations on getting that done with the plastic trim tool. Since I didn't have that tool available and I was concerned about breaking something, I went the dremel route and removed them the hard way as shown in this post from last night. I was surprised to see that the black tabs are a part of the grill (or were in my case!). I'll link my post to your post here so folks can see that it's possible to remove them with just the plastic trim removal tool,

I thought it might be productive to get a copy of the S5 Owners Manual and I found a link on the Audi USA site where you can order a copy of the User Manual. The problem is I don't yet have the VIN number for our new S5.

After a little searching, I found an Audi Literature website where you can order Owners Manuals without the VIN: https://literature.audiusa.com/welcome.asp. You can simply place an order for a manual by selecting the model, model year and language. Not surprisingly, the selections for the 2023 S5 Sportback is not listed in the drop-down choices. However, as I scrolled through the first of 17 pages of manuals, I found a listing for "Audi, 2023, A5, Owners Manual, 1st edition, CAN/ US EN". This manual actually covers all of the 5-series vehicles, including the A5 Cabriolet, A5 Coupe, A5 Sportback, S5 Cabriolet, S5 Coupe, S5 Sportback, RS 5 Coupe and RS 5 Sportback. throughout the manual, you'll find notes that help distinguish which model the section's content refers to, e.g., "Applies to: vehicles with navigation system" or "Applies to: RS Models", etc.

On this first document ordering page, there is a document code number assigned to the 2023 A5 (etc) Owners Manual -- 8W7012721BF, and an indicator showing the manual is "In-Stock" with a price of $50.00. I decided I'd get ahead of the learning curve and place an order at the site. The email invoice lists a company name of "Helm", apparently the publisher.. There was no tax and free shipping and the 319 page manual arrived in just a few days.

Although the cover title shows "Owners Manual 2023 A5" it does indeed cover all the 5-series cars. The text and illustrations are basically identical to my 2011's S4 manual format. I've gotten up to page 104, the Driving - Starting the vehicle section. It's quite a thorough manual as you can imagine, and I've learned a lot in the portions I've read so far. I'd like to think that I'll know a lot more by the time our S5 arrives.

A lot has changed since late 2010 when our S4 arrived, and we're looking forward to the many improvements that Audi has introduced to its latest models (well, maybe not the Auto Start Stop feature!). I suspect I'm going to miss the supercharger and the DSG transmission, but I'll adjust somehow. At least it's still got an ICE. Wish it could have been an RS 3 or RS 5, but the former's waiting list was way too long, and the latter's price was a bit more that we were ready for. Would have liked an exclusive paint, but $5900 (vs $2500 in 2010) was a nope, so opted for a prestige in district green with black optics. Looking forward to being a member of the S5 enthusiasts!
Is a physical owner's manual not included with the car anymore? Or did you purchase an extra before the car arrived to start reading up?

If you have a VIN you can access the owners manual online. I just pulled the vin off a similar model in the list of new inventory and used it.

There is indeed an owner's manual that comes with the car (in a little white cardboard box). While waiting for our S5 to be built and delivered, I tried looking at the online version using a VIN I found at the dealer's inventory website, but found that reading the online PDF was somewhat tedious to read on my laptop screen and not as easy to navigate the content (e.g., going from the index to the pages I wanted to scan through). I still refer to the extra copy I now have in the house, rather than having to get the one out of it's cubby in the car.

One other thing I noticed when the car was delivered is that there is no longer a paper maintenance/service book included along with the manual. I went to the same Audi Literature website above and attempted to order one, but they're currently out-of-print, and expected to be available in a week or so. You can click a link to send you a notification email when they're back in stock should you want a copy for your vehicle.

It’s a milltek non-resonated. Sounds great when you’re in dynamic/sport etc. No drone when cruising around town.

If you want loud loud loud, I’d go AWE track.

Old post but figured I’d ask someone with actual experience on the following question (noticed that Cal’ plate. ). I’m looking to get a Milltek cat-back non-resonated exhaust installed on the car within the following week or so (2018 S5 SB) but worried a bit about the smogging part coming up in November as this will more than likely be the first smog required, did you have any troubles with that part?! Thanks tons in advance. Also running a stage 1 iE ECU/stage 2 TCU tune(s) on the car to go along with the Airgate intake, APR intercooler.

Catback shouldn't be a problem for smog, but depending where you are you might have trouble passing with the tune, intake, and intercooler without any accompanying CARB stickers. If you're still in California those items could be an issue.

Oh, ok, I get you. I figured that due to this exhaust system being catback that I’ll be fine; my biggest concern was the fact that it’s “non-resonated”. Any issues with that and smog? Appreciate the input, brother.

As far as I know, I don't think they'll care. I think in terms of exhaust they just check to make sure you haven't removed the cat. I passed smog many times with an aftermarket catback exhaust.

Finally got my car back from the auto body shop yesterday. Following two accidents in January (neither my fault), the car has been at the shop getting repaired. With all parts assembled (almost the entire car received fresh paint), it went straight to the detail shop for a full ceramic coating.

Photos tomorrow once it's back home!

Did a little post-delivery cleanup the last few days. Gave it a good wash and cleaned up some of the spots that were missed when the dealer detailed it.

Polished a few areas that needed attention then hit it with some paint sealant and let cure overnight. Followed that the next day with a coat of Collinite 845 so she's all ready for a rainy spring.

Also, removed the front license plate brackets.

Will be getting quotes on front clip PPF and ceramic tints soon.

I love Collinite 845 -- been using it for decades! So fast and easy to apply and lasts for a fairly long time. Also, the grill looks so much better with those brackets removed -- those embedded brass nuts were eye catching, and not in a good way!

It's a great product. My dad and I first got into it when we worked at a marina and it was used there on boats. Been using it ever since. He does detailing part time now and uses it on everything from cars to RVs and even small planes. Holds up great!

That takes me back! I used to use it on a couple of small sailboats I had. With Father's Day coming up in the not-to-distant future, you might consider getting you dad a Collinite t-shirt or a Collinite hat (currently 10% off with discount code "SPRING10".

Took some sunset pics from on top of a parking deck. Still so unreal to me that I own this car. It’s my first Audi and first real “nice” car. I freaking love it! I got it wrapped in Xpel Stealth PPF, which took the look to a whole other level.

Absolutely love those wheels, I've seen them on other Audi's... who makes those?

There's a guy in Michigan selling a set -- see that post here, which also has a number of pics, one showing "Italy Apptech 06718 ZF" and other markings. I searched for APPTECH and it appears to be a division of Ronal.

Busy day for me! I have the suspension install coming next week, scheduled the wheel alignment for the day following.

I also got my Fallout Decals and License Plate frame in. Small bits that just make me happy.

Checking off the remainder of the to-do items that I had after bringing the car home a few weeks ago.

    - 20% ceramic tints all around
    - Swapped out the factory brake pads (aka dust factories) for carbon ceramic pads
    - Dropped off yesterday for full front end PPF as well as PPF on center console piano black trim

I have the 034 Motorsport transmission mount insert sitting at home for once I get the car back.

Eyeing the IE polymer intake + inlet next...need some turbo noise in my life.

Suspension installed, aligned. Time for a bath.

Special thanks to @Mops@Nemesis for getting me the right suspension for my needs!
