2017 Ambient LED Interior Lighting (P+ vs Prestige)

I was reading the differences between the 2017 Prestige and P+ for the S7 and it simply stated this:

1. 20” 5-parallel-spoke S design wheels
2. Head-up display with navigation information
3. Ambient LED interior lighting
4. Power soft-closing doors

What I'm most curious about is the Ambient LED interior lighting.

I tried searching online and the information is rather sparse, pictures between the two even sparser. Other models, like the Q7, are well discussed, but I'm not sure if their differences are applicable here.

Anyone know the precise differences? Does the prestige have more interior accent lightning or more panels illuminated and if so what are they? Anyone have any night pictures of one or the other and wouldn't mind sharing?

I added the ambient led lighting to my 2016 A7 Black despite the same lack of information.

The main features of the ambient package on my car is concealed dimmable white led lighting around the outer edges of the alcantara door panels, in the foot wells and on the edges of the high gloss panels on the front & rear centre consoles - it's the door panels where the lighting is most obvious.

I think the standard interior lighting on the S7 is led throughout but lacks these highlighting strips. Hope this helps and I'll try taking photos when it's dark enough.

It creates highlights of light within the interior at night but is less customisable than similar setups in other cars (no colour change in mine at least).

My 16 is a fairly loaded Premium Plus. I have the led lighting strips on all doors and footwells. Adjustable thru the MMI. Not sure if that is normal or if the Ambient LED lighting you describe is different. I can't change color...only brightness.

It seems both offer the door panel strip lighting, at least in the S6 non-prestige according to Park.

Very confusing. I searched high and low on Audi's website and all material found there and nothing, just those four words without any explanation as to what exactly it is.

There has to be some noticeable differences considering it's a prominent feature.

I think its just an error...both 2017s P+ and Prestige have the ambient LED Interior lights. They are white color only, you can't change the color like the new Q7/Q5/A4. You can only adjust the brightness via MMI.

Well after getting my non-prestiged with no ambient lighting package, I now know precisely the differences to what Corb showed in his LED ambient package car.

Here is what is lacking in a non-ambient lighting A7/S7:
1. Door sills aren't illuminated.
2. Center island is not illuminated.


I do have the LED door panel lighting and all bulbs, and at least from what I could tell, are LED. The door panel lighting was really important to me and it's there, ambient package or not. I haven't checked the hatch compartment yet for bulbs, but I will later today.

So assuming that's all that is missing, the package just adds the door sills and island, which is a bummer because those two lights are nice after comparing Corb's pictures and looking at my car.

You know, I've been trying to figure out the ambient lighting for a long while... had to go the Audi UK site to figure it out, but still not exact! I think Audi made some changes to the option without publishing.

Here is one thing, if you upgrade to "ambient lighting plus" you loose the S line/S6/S7 on the door sills? (note we never had the S line on the sills on the Prestige/S line in the US. Correct? The sills are lighted, but no script.

I was at the dealer a couple weeks ago and saw an S6 with lit sills and the S6 script? Add to that, I thought the floating center console was a Europe only thing. When I got my S interior from Germany, I got the door panels, and center console as part of the package. The console has the connector for the "floating LED." Didn't bother to try a retrofit. Go figure.
