Any way to disable the brake pad warning light?

Howdy fellas, long time no see. I'm still around, but I've been busy with other things for the past few months.

Anyway, on my wife's Avant, the brake pad warning light is stuck on because the connector that clips onto the brake pad connector is broken. So, while I've got plenty of brake pad left, the car thinks that I don't.

Why haven't I replaced the cable that contains the brake pad clip, you ask? Well, I tried, but the little 6mm bolt that holds the ABS sensor to the spindle snapped off when I tried to remove it, and I can't get a drill in there to drill it out. I also tried an easy-out, but that didn't work, either.

So, now I'm trying to see if there's perhaps a way to disable that warning via VCDS or my Maxwell OBDII reader. Any thoughts?

Cannot be disabled via VCDS. Can be disabled by cutting the wires and looping it together to close the circuit and have the warning go away. If the break in the wire is from the pad to the clip, then cut off those wires to loop together. Preserves the clip so it can be used with new pads that have sensor wires.

^ This. If you want to be 100% anal about it, solder the ends of the wires in the cup for the connector and then cover with liquid electrician's tape. Did this a few months ago no warming yet.

    As CyberPMG mentioned... Here's a how-to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzsInYPW43A
Ross-tech has a VCDS procedure for this, but only for VW instrument coding. :(

Yes, now THIS is why Audizine still rocks the house. I would never have thought of doing either of those solutions. Thanks, guys!

Ha, on further reflection, I should be able to splice the new connector from the ABS cable into the old ABS cable. Brilliant! Sometimes, I surprise even myself.

I would never do that.Better off just jumping the 2 pins together.
