    2008 A4 2.0 Turbo Replacement

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello all-

I have a 2008 2.0 that needs a turbo replacement. Other than a brand new OEM unit purchased form the dealer, any advice on what type to use that will be the most trouble-free?

Aftermarket from outlets such as Ebay?
Boneyard to find a used unit?

    Thanks!

dalmatian why is it whenever i read something of yours it comes from a place of complete stupidity?

OP your best bet in terms of cost is buy a used unit. assuming you go through eBay so you are protected by paypal you simply check for shaft play and if all feels well drop it on in. these can be had for as little as a couple hundred bucks

in terms of rebuilding it, you do NOT want to use eBay parts. this center cartridge spins at 100k rpms peak and at that speed balancing matter a wee bit, and in order to balance a center section you need special tools. other things to consider are material selection, blade pitch, tolerance and consistency among blades (causes surging, premature failure of center section otherwise)....25 bucks for guts to something originally 1000 just doesn't fly. AND YOU CANNOT DO THIS ON YOUR OWN! sure you might get clocking right and put it all together but it will be so off balance until you send it out it might as well be a paper weight.
