Dual zone, backup camera, backup sensors, navigation, and other things I’m sure I’m forgetting.

What coding did you change? You shouldn’t have changed anything in backup camera, backup sensors, or anything like that, overall the changes should have been with climate control only.. is the backup camera and backup sensors not working?

I actually got everything working. I have one weird issue where the display brightness doesn’t seem to change. Then when it’s light outside the screen is so dim that I can barely see it. Also tried to active drive select, got the options to come up on the mmi but I can’t select the different settings.

I had same issue go into green screen to fix. Go into hidden menu under display uncheck display then reset MMI.
I attached picture uncheck top box, reset MMI and should be good to go.

So this is really an incredible thread, great job guys!

I have an 09 with build date of 04/09 and unfortunately it comes with 2G High, navigation, voice commands, camera, drive select, and B&O.

What components will I need besides the obvious (New screen, screen trim, MMI unit that holds ESP switches, new center console unit that has joystick buttons)?
Trying to upgrade to 3G+ as in 2013+ models.

    Thank you!

Thank you, what about any wiring harnesses or adapters/antenna connectors? I thought there was some new wiring needed from Kufatec between the Navigation screen and MMI?

Kufatec wiring harness yes. It’s on their website. You can also hit the junkyard and possibly have them pull the wires from a total A4/S4 with MMI already.

I’ve activated drive select and it comes up on my screen but I’m not able to select the different modes, it’s stuck on individual. Anyone else have this issue?

That’s a good question, my car has drive select but I have three buttons for it.. would I have to upgrade to a single button option?

I have the same issue. I just updated my MMI from 3G to 3G+ and I can't control my drive select from the main screen unless I go to the "set to individual" on the bottom right of the screen. If anyone has a fix that would be great. Or the part numbers and guide on how to install the button. Thanks.

There's no radio or amp for it to talk to either.

Can you see if your MMI unit has any error codes in it? When the system first starts up, you can see the little Google logo in the bottom corner fill up like a progress bar. It's not super obvious because it just changes from light gray to white. Is yours doing anything?
Can you explain the usb Ethernet set up?

I just got a 2011 a5 prestige s-line and want to upgrade to mmi 3g+.
I checked these part numbers and only one is still available the rest are discontinued.

    HARDWARE:
    MMI head unit (Part #8R1035746C)
    MMI climate unit (part #8K1820043T)
My control set (RS5 aluminum style buttons) is part (#8T0919609K)

Are there other part numbers I can substitute with, can I keep my current climate control, mmi controls and just change out the head unit ??

Does anyone who performed the 3GP conversion have the optical parking enabled. I had it enabled on my 3g high but whenever I am able to activate (Park Menu Aid in 5f byte 7) the reverse camera image comes on for a second with the optical lines then reverts back to previous MMI screen

First, I dun think most of us did that will get brand new parts from audi. So most of us just grab from the classified section, so availability is purely based on if anyone post up for sale (most likely someone total their car or able to source from the junk yard). And you dun need to change the climate control, it is just a just to have for matching the color schema and also the new unit has better control layout. And the mmi controls is a bit mix info here. Some say it will work but I did try it myself that the old control didn't work with the new unit. So to be safe you better get the updated MMI control too plus the updated MMI control button layout is more logical then the old one.

How do I find out which version of the MMI I have? It's a 2009, with aux input. Bluetooth and NAV, but, it is the 2D navigation, and no media playback through bluetooth. I guess 3G-basic?

Answer is yes, and coming from a 3G Low you only have to swap the main unit, the screen and eventually the control panel (I believe some don't even bother although some buttons are then wrongly labelled)...

I actually got everything working. For anyone having problems getting the navigation to work from Midwest keyless, you have to go into the hidden green menu. You have to set the navigation region to English/North America, on the one I got it was set to default and would not work until you change it to North America. it took me a long time but I got it working. I’ll post pictures later. The only thing I’m having problems with is getting the steering wheel controls to work

So I decided to do the MMI swap on my 2012 S4 Prestige, the car is fully loaded. I installed the MMI from a b8.5 S5 and everything worked other then the volume, and i mean every single option that was in there. I take it to the dealer they remove component protection everything stops working other then sound and nav. Like drive select is gone, rear view camera is gone, steering wheel controls are gone the climate control and heated seats will not show up. The guys at the dealer told me all they did was remove the CP but looks like they tried to do something else as well and this is the only dealer that was willing to do the CP for me... Anyone know why this happened and what I can do to fix it ? I asked them to try and fix it and they said that the software adaptation that was required is discontinued. Anything would help!

Do you have the logs for vagcom prior to cp removal? If so, copy all coding back to how it was. Sounds like they messed it up.

Guys, CP removal Adaptation by dealer puts the unit in to factory virgin state. If you have Rosstech cable, check options in long coding section for 5F, Steering, Gateway and Convenience modules. All settings are there in diff bytes and need to be turned on.

I dont have the old coding from the new MMI unit but i can get the coding from the original unit from the car will that work ? Also I did put in the old one back in and they got that one to work again, will me putting in the new MMI now that it has the CP removed work or will it say that the component protection is enabled?

Yeah old coding will work, if its mmi unit, gateway, radio, DIS and climate set with CP removed it will work. If any component is swapped whole system goes in CP again and requires dealer visit again.

I have a 2008 S5. B&O system. I think I have a 2G high. How do I get to 3G+? There seem to be threads that go on for days and days. Anything concise? Anyone in Arizona do this?

    TIA!

I purchased a new unit from Midwest Keyless on ebay and went through with the install. Had my local stealership remove CP and now the unit works perfect. With one caveat. When I shut the car for a short period (getting gas, running into the store, etc.) and come back the audio drops out every 10 seconds or so. Once I give the radio the three finger reset it works perfectly. So the issue seems to occur when coming out of sleep. Does anybody have any recommendations?

That sounds like the gateway issue. You need what’s called the extended can bus which governs blind spot assist, memory seats, lane assist, and adaptive cruise control.

There is a correct list of can bus let me see if I can find it for you.

This has the pre facelift cars for correct can bus and the facelift model 2013+

Please reference your part with the list below under the hardware category. Once you know if you have the extended can bus. That will eliminate a couple of questions and we can go from there.
You need a yes & yes for both the most and the extended can. Please make sure your part number says yes and yes and if it doesn’t we have at least diagnosed one problem for sure.

    Thanks and keeps me posted.
