Bang and Olufson System - Any thoughts?

I am by no means an audiophile, but I do enjoy a great sounding factory system.

I recently test drove an S4, and ended up ordering one the next day.. Problem is that I got so caught up in the driving dynamics and exhaust note that I forgot to try out the stereo.

What is the general impression of the 755 Watt B&O system? Google has been little help on this one.

All B9 A4 Owners with B&O audio system have been raving about it. I personally addicted to it. My coworker has an A7 with Bose system. He recently had a B9 A4 P+ with the B&O system as loaner. He is very impressed with this Audio system and told me he envy mines.

I test drove a 2017 S3 a few months ago, and the B&O system in that was very impressive.. Although I'm pretty sure this one is both more powerful, and has more speakers. I'm really looking forward to listening to one.

I rented an 09 S5 off of Turo a few years back that had the B&O system in it for my wedding weekend, and had a killer playlist for the drive up from Baltimore to Hudson Valley ready to go... and damn, it was pretty damn impressive. You hear things in familiar songs that you've never heard before, it was dialed in perfectly. Don't know the differences between that set up, and the ones they currently offer, but from a clarity and quality of sound standpoint, insanely good.
The most dangerous phrase in your vocabulary is "good enough".

If you enjoy a great sounding factory sound system, you will definitely not enjoy the stock Audi Sound System. One does not need to be an audiophile to appreciate the upgraded sound that one gets with the B&O System. Not all audiophiles like B&O. I do not consider myself an audiophile and I do not wish to be thought as one. However, I use my eyes and ears for a living. I design audio-visual systems. I am more like you. I like good sounding systems and appreciate the quality. With that said, I am no fan of the B&O brand but I do like what I hear in my S5. Go for it. You won't regret your decision.

I'm not sure there's a way to get the new S4 without the B&O.. and I ordered a prestige package - so I'm definitely going for it.

I'm just in the "learn everything I can" phase, and I would love to know what to expect.

Thank you for the honest feedback.

You should not miss out on ordering the B&O system. It can give you goosebumps at times. That's how lovely it is. It needs to be broken in a bit. Like it sounds better after around 500miles with music on. Beats the crap out of the Bose in my A7.

The nice thing is that the B&O is standard on the s4.

You would need to get the premium plus package on the a4 in order to get it.

    Here's a little info: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/en/solut...motive/audi/a4

IMO it sounds amazing. I didn't think it would be such a dramatic difference between the previous B8.5 S4 B&O system but I thought it was more crisp and powerful

Honestly I can't believe how amazing the sound is, especially the bass!! I always had to add 1 or 2 sub-woofers to my previous cars to get this kind of sound. I feel like it sound as good as a 4,5000$ aftermarket stereo system. Def. a MUST HAVE in the B9!!

Like many have said, it's a great factory system. Light years ahead of the BO in my B8. I was jealous of my buddies burrmeister system in his MB, but Audi did a great job of making this very comparable.

Yup. I compared the B&O in my A4 to a Burmester in a C43 AMG and both felt at par with each other.

I was floored when I heard the quality of the burmester in his C400 vs what I had in the 14 S4. For MB, it is a pretty expensive option I believe and the new BO is comparable.

I have no idea what the B&O in the B8 sounds like. But in the B9, it sounds amazing. Speakers definitely need to break in though. But once broken in, the base system (atleast, the one in the loaner A3 I had) sounds like crap!!!

Unfortunately, the Burmeister is pretty terrible as an option in the w205 c-class. It's OK but not really what people would expect from Burmeister. That is the only thing that disappointed me about the w205. The e-class gets a different option and sounds really good.

Here is a really good review for the c-class Burmeister.

Yes. I agree that it won't be as good as Burmester home audio systems or even as good as those in cars that are a class or classes above the C class. But when you compare it to a stock upgrade in that particular class of cars, it sounds pretty darn good. Same with B&O. B&O home audio as well as car audio in the A6 onwards will probably sound better than in the A4. But when you look at the stock optional upgrades in cars belonging to the same class, B&O is a no brainer when it comes to quality.
It is all relative is what I meant.

For example. Listen to the Harman Kardon in the 3 series. Doesn't sound anywhere as good as the Burmester or B&O. Same with the Meridian in the XE.

Edit - Just rear the link you posted. I had no idea Burmester only did the design and tuning and the speakers weren't Burmester!!!!

Still breaking mine in, the range is great with clear highs and lows. Gotta have it.
