    B7 BI XENON HEADLIGHT Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
If I have non AFS Bi xenon headlights, can I replace the headlight for a Bi xenon with AFS and vice versa? Can I do the same with auto leveling and non auuto leveling lights? B7 headlights have so many different part numbers, just wanna be sure. Thanks.

I think the ballasts will allow the projectors to move. Besides that your car must also have the sensors and wiring installed to allow any of this to begin with.

The ballasts have nothing to do with it.

If you have xenons already they should be plug and play and just need coding from VAGCOM. I'm pretty sure the steering position sensor is default on all cars. Will have to check which control unit you need to make them steer...

You could fit non auto levelling lights they will fit fine, they will not be xenon though and the plugs will be different so will need some wiring adaptation. (Look for posts of people doing xenon conversion and do the reverse!)

I'm worried when you say headlight.... if changing the spec you would need to change both, otherwise you need to keep the same spec as your other side.

Thanks, but in this case, my question is for all bi xenon. Im guessing if the headlights are bi xenon, the plugs will be the same, right?

    B7 BI XENON HEADLIGHT Question

I would assume so, I have AFS and my headlights are out so I will take a picture of the plug when I am next near them

Hmmm I wouldn't assume it simply because there needs to be extra wires to control the extra functions

Although the plugs may be the same the wiring could be different

So I just got AFS bi-xenons for my halogen car. Got the kufatec harness, will I be good after I vagcom it properly? I don't care about the adjustability, just don't want the MIL.

Coming from halogen you can put what you want while using and harness adapter. That comment was for the op.

Yes...After you the lites. You must vcds to the Bi-Xenon codes. Or else they will flicker and the high beams will not . Also the DRL will lite up when you try to use the high beams. I sold a extra set of Bi-Xenon's to another member on here and the shop that ed them didnt code them. This was the results he got

If you have factory bixenons then AFS and non-AFS are not exchangable (HID will work though but Auto levelling will through Errors).

If you upgrade from halogen to bixenon via adapter harness it makes no difference if using AFS or non-AFS.

I have a friend in Europe that did the afs retrofit a couple times. By law you have to retrofit the headlight washers and afs feature when retrofiting Bixenons there so its a more common retrofit than on this side of the Atlantic.

If I'm not mistaking, all you need is the conversion harness, the height leveling module, F&R sensors and he also needed the steering module but I think thats only for European cars since some dont have mfsw controls and probably have the same steering module our B6's have..

I might tackle that retrofit once I'm out of things to do on the B6.
