Hello Gents, I hope we are all doing well!

So, managed to hard wire my blackvue 650S 2-CH in line with the power magic pro. But, I do not get anywhere near enough recording time after the ignition is off as the 12V cut off protection hits in pretty fast. So, on the Facebook RS6 page, one guy mentioned the battery power pro (battery pack). Looks great, as does the price!

However, my question is, do any of you have this and did you manage to hard wire it? I could figure it out myself after probably some considerable time but would appreciate some time saving saviour to be able to help me out!! I don't want the 12V socket connection and therefor cables running about the cockpit.

    Thanks!

Do you have a link to the battery pack? Is it the black magic power pro ?

Sounds like your battery is not fully recharging if it's dropping to 12 volts in a short time. You can add another battery for the dash cam and isolate it with a diode so the auxiliary battery is powering the camera and not the car. The question is, does the car run long enough to charge both batteries? Maybe the car should be on a charger every so often to top off the car battery.

My Blackvue PMP is set for 6 hours and I noticed if I'm taking short trip the camera shuts down sooner. I also increased the SD card size to 64GB. The 8GB card only holds 2-3 hours of video before it's over written. I found that out when I tried to review it after the 45K service.

I'm not driving very far at the moment, you're right. If I get the magic power pro then I guess I will struggle to charge it fully most times. I have a 64GB card as know from previous cameras how much pace is required. Some good points to note, thanks.

My car is 4 years old, with a a nearly 2000 watt stereo system and blackvue 650 with power magic pro. I'm still on my original car battery. My camera will easily run for a couple of days without draining to battery. I think something is wrong with your battery.

1 thing.... I do have a CTek charger which I keep my car plugged to from time to time. I'm sure that helps. But I still think something is wrong with your car for the dash cam to be draining so quickly.

Why not use a USB power brick like you would for a mobile phone?

Looks like the instructions I got differed to the actual unit I got. I have set up the correct voltage cut off and now works fine!!

Thanks for all the input guys, appreciated!

Been planning to do that. One day I will. Lol. Actually there are a few people who have done that to avoid frequent deep cycling of the car battery. Doesn't seem like a bad idea as long as you keep the brick away from the sun.

I replaced my Power Magic Pro with a (much better) Vico-Power PLUS Battery Discharge Prevention device.

What did you gain from the replacement?

The OP's and my camera powers down at 12 volts. It appears that the Vico-Power PLUS will do the same thing.
