I am looking for some advice to try an fix an intermittent problem I am having with the parking aid on my wife's 4L Q7.
Specs of the car:
'06 4L Q7 V6 TDi
MMI 2G high
Parking system plus (front and rear sensors with graphical display)
Tools available:
Full Vag-com software with genuine Ross-tech cable
Elsa
Tools to physically remove/replace parts
Description of issue/things tried:
- When selecting reverse I get a long beep and the parking aid does not function
- It sometimes works, and when it does it will work for a couple of days
- I can talk to the Park Assist module (J446) through vag-com and can activate/test all functions through Meas. Blocks option.
- I have tested the MOST bus through vag-com and all comes back clear
- I get a communication intermittent fault at the Control head in vag-com
- I have physically unplugged and plugged back in the park assist module (J446), the Control head module and the data bus diagnostic interface (J533)
Thoughts:
It seems the CAN-bus communications are working ok as I can communicate with the parking aid module. I can't pin point any of the three modules themselves as being faulty as they are either talking to vag-com (parking assist module) or doing everything else they should be doing (control head and J533). I do have one faulty parking sensor, but when the system intermittently works I just don't get any feedback from that one sensor; everything else works as it should. The vag-com makes it look like the parking assist module isn't talking to the control head, but the CAN and MOST buses appear to be working fine and J533 appears to be working too. There is a dension gateway plugged into the MOST bus, but I'm I don't think this would be causing this specific issue. I guess I could try unplugging this and see if the problem goes away.
