Question: Milltek resonated vs non resonated

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Please comment if you had the experience with milltek. So far this sounds best for me out of all the other ones I heard. Interested in how much it might drone inside the car and how loud it is in general. It sounds pretty deep from youtube, which is nice, no rasp from what I can tell.

Are you 6MT? Typically, non-res for 6MT and resonated for automatic....from what I've read.

I've had the non-res version on my 6MT since around November. Purchased after reading xxSullyxx's reviews. I couldn't be happier with it. As with nearly any aftermarket exhaust, there is drone. In mine, it's between about 2,200 and 2,800 in 5th or 6th gear. For me that translates into around 65 mph. But I never really drive 65 anyway. It is noticable if you accelerate in 5th or 6th. It also mellows out after a few thousand miles. My wife knows I've done something with the exhaust, and she comments that it's louder, but she doesn't complaint that much. I get burbles and pops on downshifts, and it even "farts" on upshifts from time to time. WOT just absolutely rips. . .

How do YOU want it to sound? Do mind drone? Do you want it quiet but then open up when you floor it? there is a lot more than meets the eye. We are offering Milltek systems at a discount with free shipping currently and would be happy to assist you with making the right decision. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

I JUST had the non res installed on my 6 Mt yesterday . You can definitely hear it and the sound is what you're looking for and I prefer to the awe sound . And yes it has that deep tone

Note that the speed limits on the interstate is 70 and it will drone at 65 plus in 3rd but it is not bad .

If you want to be a Civic racer boy, go with the non-res.
If you want a deep tone on higher rpm get the res.

I am happy with the res on my dsg

Comparing the sound of v6 supercharged with a civic.......

I think you are right . If you have a dsg pls get a quiet one because the dsg farts will no longer be silent and deadly

Question: Milltek resonated vs non resonated

Non resonated on Both. Resonated is almost quieter than stock. I didn't pay 2-3k on something that was stock sounding. I have both pipes so I know first hand.

I haven't seen polished ovals. A guy on here is selling his black ovals for like 200 . IMO the larger quads don't look as good as the 90 mm

If you have DSG get the resonated DP's otherwise you will have drone at highway cruise.
You can always add them later if you don't believe me.

So if you get the unresonated exhaust the default option is unresonated DPs which you're saying can be switched out for resonated DPs? If so then now I'm even more intrigued...

The downpipes in both versions do not have resonators. I think the only difference are the rear two mufflers which are only available on the resonated version.

what about if you had to add hfc's in the future . . . would that drastically alter the exhaust sound at all points in the rpm range? Test pipes even more so? Headers even more than that? I'm thinking either milltek valvesonic or milltek w/ resonated dp's or the basic awe touring or borla as i'm worried about what could happen down the road pursuing every last little drop of power. sorry to interject my questions in this thread.

Honestly, some times the stock drones a bit too during certain RPM. My biggest gripe with all these systems is that they come in a million pieces with clamps all over. Could have that welded I guess. I really need to just see if i could hear it in person. I will be Moving to FL so might hit you up Caymanite for a test-drive.

Caymonite is right, it's only the rear mufflers that get deleted by res and non res.

Even with straight pipes, the resonated is pretty quiet. However, it is very very loud with non res. I think the perfect medium would be valve sonic.

I think it depends person to person. I've heard the non res and I don't know if i'd consider it "very very loud". It is somewhat loud but I think it's possible to drive it and keep it somewhat tame

My Milltek resonated with DP's was installed on Tuesday. It's gotten louder over the first 50 miles. I love it so far. No drone and nice and deep sound.

I completely disagree. I have never heard the resonated version, but I have 6MT with the non-res, I believe it's pretty subtle until I give it a decent amount of throttle. Even then the sound is no where near "civic racer." It's a more refined, much deeper note. Not that fart can shit you hear on the ricers.

Extremely happy with mine, and like others went based off Sully's experiences.

The DSG drones given the gearing and RPM combo. It's well known. Aftermarket exhausts exaggerates it which is why you want the resonated DP's... I don't know the milltek system well but the AWE system highly recommends resonated DP's for the DSG because of the drone without.

Non res with no cats is extremely loud. This is what drone looks like cruising at 80.

Non res with factory cats is fine.

DPs are not different between the res and non res for Milltek. It's just the rearmost mufflers.

6 M/T driver here, I just installed the non-resonated version on my car a few weeks ago and I am in love with it. My enjoyment of the car has greatly increased. Driving windows down with the nice weather and the sound is pure joy.

This is correct, on both versions the downpipes are resonated. The non resonated version has the rearmost mufflers omitted.

Which is great because rather than getting excessive noise and drone in the cabin it's really coming out the back of the car.

I find the non-res version to be not loud at all when you're not getting on the car or going above 70 on the highway. When you do get on it though you get deep, clean sound.

A friend has the resonated version on his car, he says it's not much louder than stock and gets drowned out by the intake noise.

To each their own, buy what you like. (With that said, not everyone that likes more sound out of their car is a Civic boy racer)

I believe so. Also I think the tips are modular, they have a tension/clamp at the end that you can loosen and remove if you wanted to change them. (For that matter you could probably do the same for the mufflers at the end as well if you wanted to change them to res or non-res) I am running the 100mm polished tips at the moment, I am still on the fence about them because they're huge.

Got the Milltek non-resonated system installed today and it's fking awesome. Deep and throaty. Took it on the highway and used cruise control and anywhere between 50 and 60 I can't even hear it and it sounds stock. 70 to 80 you can hear it louder than stock but not much louder at all. Love the 100mm quad tips. I am DSG by the way.

Some revs with non res. Im like a foot away from the car , so it should show this exhaust is a reasonable volume and won't scare children in strollers .

I cannot stand the kazoo awe exhaust , but I can stand the price .

It's funny as when you rev it in neutral it sounds good but when accelerating under load it's just glorious. I have been grinning all afternoon.

I have the non-res w/black ovals and absolutely love the sound. To me, and of course... personal preference here it is perfect mix of sound and luxury off throttle. You know you have it their when cruising but when you open up it sounds great and for me I don't notice any drone issues (DSG). Install wasn't bad, had to make a few adjustments I thought I had it knocking over bumps for a bit but turned out to be something else.
