    C7 S6 - 2014 vs 2016

    Hi All,

Looking at getting into an S6. I think I am liking the look of the black optic on the 2016's more than the 2014, however what are the differences between the 14 and 16 that are noticeable? IF I do go with a 2014, should I be on the look out for anything mechanical. PPI is a must. I am unsure if the extra 15k is worth dumping to the 2016. I know this is generic and vague of a post, I am just curious if it is worth waiting a bit for the 16's to come down or if the 14 literally is the same car.

    Thanks!

As you would expect, this will be a sensitive thread. C7.5 owners (2016+) will say there are quite a few differences while most C7 owners would like to think the cars are very similar.

So here is my personal opinion. The performance is exactly the same. The "30hp" bump is purely marketing which is backed up by many performance tests. So with that, don't look at a C7.5 because it's more powerful according to Audi, it's not.

Aesthetically, depending how you option the car, the C7.5 can look many years newer than a C7 (headlights, taillights, front bumper, rear bumper, sport package, black optics wheels with black exhaust tips and black rear diffuser, alcantera door inserts, upgraded shift knob, improved stitching on sports seat, alcantera headliner option, google maps, etc) . But that would obviously depend on how both the C7 and C7.5 are spec'd. When I was making the same decision you're considering now, I told myself if I was going to spring for the 7.5, it would have to be spec'd in a way that would clearly differentiate it from the C7.

You will be happy either route you go, it's an incredible chassis whether you go facelift or pre-facelift

The 16 makes 30 horses more than the 13-15 models. The ride is a little more refined and the MMI is faster, you get maps on DIS. And I think there are some features that have become standard on 16 vs the pre facelift.
Here is my take on it- I dont have an S6 but I had a 2013 A6 and now I have a 2016 A6. I have been looking at CPO S6's now. But after having driven the 2016 A6, I am gonna wait for the 2016+ S6's to come down a little more. To me, the tech and refinement part is also important hence I haven't really looked into the prefacelift S6's even though they'd beat me by bus lengths even in stock form.

I have a 2017 and I dont think there is any real diference if you tune the car..the MMI is the only thing and apple car play is only in the 17 thats it oh and sports exhaust...but you can go aftermarket for that

Here's the list as I know it. 1. 30 HP (marketing not really noticeable) 2. New MMI with faster processor. 3 New headlights. 4. New taillights. 5. Reworked front and rear bumpers (new valence). 6. Alcantara door inserts (love, love love). 7. USB inputs in center console. 8. Black optic package with different wheels and black finishers on exhaust. 9. Sport exhaust as an option (with pops and bangs). 10. Google earth between guages.
I probably missed a few but think I covered the most important.

thank you everyone! These last few postes helped me out greatly. One last question which might cause a fight but would i get rid of my RS4 for the S6 and be happy with my decision OR should i just keep the RS4, buy the S6 and live with now 3 S cars. ( not a bad life, i am curious if i will regret getting rid of the RS4)

If the less expensive '14 made that much difference so you could keep the RS4 ... man, what a garage that would be!

To add a little to the original question, in addition to the already mentioned advancements of the MY 2016 MMI, it can play .FLAC music files (lossless music files). If you decide to have a higher end audio system, this is a definite plus in my opinion, along with having the USB port which makes it much easier to stream quality music via an iphone or similar (Tidal.com can stream lossless music via your phone, and apple music has better compression algorithms than most other services with the exception of Tidal). Agree with all the other folks on this thread, that there really aren't any huge differences between the platforms, and most things that you might want to change can be obtained in the aftermarket.

Keep the RS4, I would have kept my S4 but I didn't have garage space at the time. I've been in an A3 loaner car the last couple days and it just makes me miss the old car even more. The S6 is an incredible car, but you will want to toss around your RS4 every now and then.

This is good info. I think the 16 makes sense.

I thrashed the S6 today and wow what a big-ass car! a TON of power but i am so used to the RS its a totally different ride. After driving the 14 S6 it makes me think twice about even contemplating getting rid of the R.

With just a tune, these cars pull pretty damn well. I'd say on par with my previous stage 2+ b8 s4.

Only one way to find out...I'll take a video
