    Factory conical lug bolts?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Guys, I need some help here.
Would like to get spacers for my factory 19" peelers and all of the information I've read is that they use the ball-seat wheel bolt.
But I've rotated my tires several times and am certain that the factory wheel bolts are 'conical'. (see photo below)

Before dropping a fair chunk of change on the ECS spacer kit, want to be certain to get the right bolts.

I am the second owner of the car, but am also nearly certain these are the original wheels and bolts. All input is appreciated.

Factory bolts are indeed ball seat. Most (but not all) aftermarket wheels use conical seat bolts. It's quite possible that the original owner had a set of aftermarket wheels (perhaps winter-use aftermarket wheels), and didn't pay attention to what the original wheels were bolted on with. You should be able to look carefully at the seat of the peelers to ascertain whether they are indeed ball seat. You can also get some modeling clay and force some into one of the bolt holes and see if it does take a ball seat form.

Alternatively, your peelers could be aftermarket lookalikes that use conical seats. The wheels manufacture's name should be stamped on the inside of the wheel - perhaps others with the same model year as yours, with peelers, can confirm whether their wheels have the same manufacturer.

By the way, your spare tire's wheel uses ball seat lug bolts. If you need to use the spare, you should have a set of 5 ball seat lugs (in standard length (~27-28mm) carried in your trunk with the spare. These bolts should not be the length you're going to purchase for use with your spacers, whose length will depend on the width of the spacers.

Well that is not the OEM bolt. Besides being ball seat, the OEM bolt uses a integral ball seat washer which is useful for a more accurate torque on the bolt.
