About to order new front brake rotors.... Zimmerman or Meyle??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have searched and read posts about good experiences with both brands. The Meyle's are $75 cheaper/pair and if all things are equal I would like to save $75. If they are a sub par product compared to the Zimmerman's then I will not hesitate to purchase them. Looking for real world feedback. I will be going with the Akebono pads. Thanks in advance!!!

This is my DD...... I don't track the car but it does get driven. My original brakes have 36K on them and are getting to the end of their lifespan.

Never skimp on brakes. Everyone puts far more money into useless parts and when it comes to the 2 most important parts on a car brakes and tires everyone skimps. I reality these are where you should put the most money.

I believe Zimmerman is an OEM supplier to Audi. I purchased them last year for my rear brakes and they are great. I would probably just get the Zimmerman ones if your looking for OEM quality.

Zimmerman's are good, Mercedes uses them on most of their vehicles strait form the factory, not sure if its the same for Audi...

I agree. I'm not saying for a DD you got have a track ready braking setup, but don't go cheap.

I have same setup and I must say I am disappointed in the Stop Tech rotors. They rust very quickly and the vein coating comes of and the veins are starting to rust and my setup is only 3 weeks old. If I could do it again I'd go with Adams Rotors or ECS Geomet with Hawks or EBC Green. Don't get me wrong the Akebonos are dust free pads and they are very smooth and delivery linear stoping power but the Stop Tech rotos have let me down tremendously.

Zimmerman makes some of the best brake rotors out there. They just happen to be affordable.

Although I have a B7 A4, I have used Zimmerman on both of my brake changes and have been pleased. I went with them because they are an OEM supplier and consistently receive high praise. I love the brakes in my car.

I am also at the point of needing new rotors and pads. Would the Zimmerman's, Meyle, or Brembo rotors work better than stock for the occasional trip to the mountains and canyons? I only do them them once or twice a year but would like something better than stock w/o stepping up to a BBK. I do not really need a BBK (I do not think) for the couple of times a year but I do like to drive the car hard when I can. I will probably step up the brake fluid and SS lines as well.

Is there any benefit to upgrading the master cylinder as well or no?

    Thanks all.

I don't think there's any performance to be found in a rotor swap, the difference is in the pads. Go for Meyle rotors with some ebc red stuff or similar pads of you want a stronger performing brake.

Thanks Jimrobbington, That is what I am looking for.

Do you hit the canyon roads much. How so they hold up relatively speaking? I am not expecting zero fade but would like for them to hold up a little longer over stock.

Meyles all around with Akebono euro ceramic pads. No noise, dust or any problems. I'm pretty sure the Meyles are US made.

Did you guys order your Meyle rotors from ECS or a different distributor?
