    P0491 & P0492 Secondary air injection system bank 1 & 2: insufficient flow

Recently ran out of my CPO warranty and now I have a check engine light. That's how the world seems to work.

Thought I'd ask if anyone has ever seen or dealt with this one before. If it something I can easily fix then I'd rather do the work. Suggestions?

In Canada Audi has extended the warranty until 193000km for carbon build up in the secondary air injection system. USA should be the same. This is a known issue with the 3.0T. It's emissions an emissions issue, no damage to your car will happen while driving with the CEL. In addition to carbon build up the codes could be thrown for a faulty sensor or a sticky valve which Audi would not cover.

Covered under warranty. They're working me in next week. My last loaner was an A6 and I wouldn't mind that again.

Check the small vaccuum hoses near the back of the engine around the firewall. I've had it happen in my A4 and now the S4 and was a cracked line. Cut it where the break is and reattach.

Assuming that is what's throwing your secondary air injection code.

I'm out of my CPO warranty. It is being covered under the additional warranty mentioned above for the known issue. It is carbon build up. I just have to wait for them to get loaners back from other repairs.
